Week eight of the NFL season had some serious breakout performances. Of those Ben Roethlisberger was my value pick at quarterback and if you took that advice you would have scored 44.78 points in Fanduel for just $7,500. Big Ben is not valued at $8,000 which is probably closer to his actual worth. Ahmad Bradshaw was another nice pick up for $7,000 and 18.2 points even though the Colts were in pass first mode most of the game.
My disappointments were Owen Daniels, who did not start even though reports had him as likely to play and Doug Baldwin only scored 9.1 points.
This week we are looking for the home runs and to stay away from the busts. I look for values in Fanduel, I define a value as a player under $8,000 that can score double digit points and also has a chance to break 20 points. Remember Fanduel caps each team at $60,000 and with 9 roster slots each player costs an “average” of $6,667, meaning some values are a must for each team. The good news is that defenses and kickers are almost always roughly $5,000 or less.
Value Picks for Week 9-
QB- Brian Hoyer ($6,200)
Hoyer faces the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week. The Bucs allow more yards per game than any team in the NFL. If you are looking for a value pick at quarterback for week 9 fantasy play, Hoyer might just be it.
WR- Kelvin Benjamin ($7,000)
Carolina faces New Orleans this week. New Orleans presents an interesting match up because the Saints allow a ton of yards and points but they score a ton of points themselves. This is a nice setup for Benjamin because the Panthers may have to throw the ball early and often to keep up with the Saints who do not excel at stopping opposing offenses.
RB- Mark Ingram ($6,100)
The Saints have injuries at running back which means more playing time for Ingram who is a threat running and catching the football.
TE- Jordan Reed ($5,500)
Washington’s Jordan Reed has been seeing an increase in targets in recent weeks and the Vikings allowed 3 receptions a touchdown to Tampa’s Austin Seferian-Jenkins. The Skins have a much better offense than the Bucs, Reed should have a good game.
Once again kickers and defenses are all under $5,600 so they all are essentially “value” picks by definition so pick your best matchups.
