Entry blanks are now circulating for two upcoming tournaments to be conducted by the Florida State USBC Women’s Bowling Association, and this article provides information, along with links to official entry blanks.
Florida women’s state seniors championship set for Tavares in November
The entry deadline is fast approaching for prospective participants in the FSWBA’s state senior tournament, because all entries must be submitted no later than Oct. 15. Break Point Alley — a 40-lane center in Tavares — will host the event, and competition will be conducted by the Lake Triangle Bowling Association.
The annual tournament, which will take place on the first two weekends of November (Nov. 1-2 and 8-9), is.open to all FSWBA members who will be at least 55 years of age as of the entry closing date.
Entry fee will be $18 per woman per event, plus an optional $2 for all-events, meaning a total of $38 if entered in all-events. All competitors must bowl both singles and doubles.
Singles will be contested in two age categories: Division 1 (55-64) and Division 2 (65-up). There will be only one doubles classification, and partners need not be in the same age bracket. No re-entries are permitted.
Doubles squads have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. Sundays, while singles will take place at 2 p.m. Saturdays and 1 p.m. Sundays. Handicap will be on a 100 percent of 210 basis, and prize payment will be at least one cash for each 10 entries.
Winners in each division are eligible to participate in the women’s divison of the National USBC Seniors Championships. The combined total of six games plus handicap will determine the champions. In the event of a tie for first place in any division, and because only one woman is eligible to participate in the National Seniors Tournament, the tie will be broken by using the highest series with handicap.
