Arlington Heights: The 39th Annual Frontier Days Festival in Arlington Heights runs Wed.-Sun. July 2-6. The Festival features carnival rides, free entertainment on three stages and free family activities and sporting events. , Musical headliners include: Chicago Six on Wed., Sister Hazel on Thurs., Gin Blossoms on Fri., The Bacon Brothers on Sat. and American English on Sun. The Fourth of July Parade, titled Toys on Parade, is on Fri. and steps off at 10 a.m.. Frontier Days is held at Recreation Park in Arlington Heights. Admission is free.
Barrington: Barrington’s 4th of July Festival, sponsored by the Barrington Lions, runs Thurs.-Sat., July 3-5. The Fourth of July Parade steps off at 10 a.m. on Fri.. Fireworks, sponsored by Barrington Bank and Trust, are on Fri. at dusk. The festival is at Patriot Park. Admission is free during the day and $5 after 5 p.m.
Hoffman Estates: Northwest Fourth Fest is a large festival held at Sears Center Arena in Hoffman Estates Thurs.-Sun., July 3-6. The Festival, held by the Village of Hoffman Estates, Hanover Township and Hoffman Estates Parks and Rec., features entertainment, a carnival, a parade, fireworks, food and more. The Fourth of July Parade, themed “America: Yesterday, Today & Forever,” steps off on Illinois Boulevard on Fri. at 9 a.m. Fireworks are on Fri. evening at 9:30 p.m. Concerts include: Heartache Tonight on Thurs.; Kashmir and Modern Day Romeos on Fri.; and Mike & Joe and Smashmouth on Sat.. Admission and parking are free.
Mount Prospect: The 76th Lions Festival is at Melas Park in Mt. Prospect Wed.-Sun., July 2-6. The festival features carnival rides, food court, beer garden and musical entertainment. All you can eat Pancake Breakfast is July 4 (7-11 a.m./ Family Day is July 6. Fireworks light the sky at dusk on July 2 and July 4.
