A week has passed since Galveston Pirates set sail on their new adventure and the dust has since settled. Despite defeat at the hands of our Bay Area rivals, Houston Hurricanes, our new look team can look forward with lots of hope that we can compete this coming TPSL season and give a good account of ourselves.
Although losing by three goals to nil, the new Pirate owner was still pleased with the progress that has been made since his stewardship began.
“It’s all been a blur over the past few weeks as the realisation of our opening game approached. We only had our tryouts the week previous so we haven’t had much time to work with the players but they are an honest bunch of lads and once we get some training sessions under our belt, they will come good for the upcoming season.” said the new supremo Bill Alsobrook.
Stupendous in his victory that day, Houston Hurricanes head coach Brendan Keyes spoke of the match, “It was a really good match and I can see a lot of potential in the new Pirate team since Bill took over. However, we had been having some humorous banter in the lead up to this game and to be handed the inaugural Bay Area Cup from the hands of Bill felt good.”
“Bay Area bragging rights belong to the Hurricanes until next year and I won’t be slow at reminding him [Bill] about it every time we meet.” finished Keyes.
Both clubs continue to place together their squad as the upcoming 2014/15 season approaches; Both clubs will be hoping to push for success as the rush for silverware takes hold. Next up for the Pirates is another tough test for them as they welcome Houston Dynamo in July.
