Mike Arms, President of the Helen Woodward Animal Center (HWAC) created a beautiful animal campaign last year that managed to unite animal lovers and organizations across the globe on the 4th Thursday in September. The campaign was designed to remember the millions of orphan pets who lost their lives without the benefit of a loving home. By lighting a candle in their remembrance, participants were able to shine a light on the millions of orphan pets still waiting for their forever homes.
Last year was so successful that a repeat was in order for this year. Now, as HWAC spreads the invitation for animal-lovers and animal welfare organizations to participate in the 2nd Annual Remember Me Thursday campaign, events and candle-lighting ceremonies are being organized throughout the globe. All candles will be lit in the exact same day globally in order to honor those pets no longer with us and died without the benefit of a loving home.
As far as the home state of California, one thing is for certain, several events have cropped up recently in the San Diego area. Mike Arms and HWAC are happy to be working in partnership with Blue Buffalo, Embrace Pet Insurance and KONG this year in order to bring this event to fruition.
