November’s report brings with it news of: bagels, butternut squash pizza, chicken artichoke dip, crepes, gourmet ice cream, noodle bowls, pasta, tapas, Venezuelan fare, and a grocery store coming to Peachtree Corners.
Since Peachtree Corners is our home, it is exciting to learn that Noble Fin, a Chef Jay Swift restaurant, is scheduled to open next summer in the former Dreamland space and will serve contemporary American and Mediterranean cuisine. Get ready for premium and fresh local ingredients in a casual environment. Quality seafood, steaks, homemade pastas, signature cocktails, bottled and draft beer, wine, and local vegetables will be on the menu. Excited for another quality restaurant in Peachtree Corners.
Please keep in mind that none of the companies that follow have dedicated gluten-free kitchens (except for Arepa Mia and Le Metro Creperie), but they take steps to avoid cross contact during preparation. Here are this month’s contenders in alphabetical order:
Arepa Mia – their new Decatur location is now open for lunch weekdays and they are accepting catering orders. Arepa Mia is a 100% dedicated gluten-free restaurant offering Venezuelan fare.
Avalon – has officially opened in Alpharetta and it offers up many restaurants with gluten-free options, such as: Bantam + Biddy from Shaun Doty, Bantu, Bocado Burger Bar, Goldberg’s Fine Foods, Kona Grill, Marlow’s Tavern, Oak Steakhouse, and Ted’s Montana Grill.
Bantu – all of their noodle dishes can be prepared with gluten-free noodles, which is very unusual and exciting. Also, there are no peanuts on the menu because the chef is allergic, so they offer soy nuts instead.
Earth Fare – will open in Peachtree Corners in the space formerly occupied by OfficeMax in The Village at Peachtree Corners in mid January. Peachtree Corners will now house the largest collection of supermarkets/grocery stores with: Ingles Markets, Kroger, Publix, Sprouts, and Whole Foods.
Farmhouse Coffee & Crepe Cafe, The – just learned about this restaurant that will open in Johns Creek in January and offer gluten-free crepes prepared on a dedicated maker and locally sourced gluten-free options as well. Counter Culture coffee and an array of teas will also be on hand.
Goldberg’s – they are offering Udi’s Gluten Free bagels and breads and they have a separate gluten-free menu. All of these additions are recent to accommodate the growing number of people following a gluten-free diet. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and they just opened a new location at Avondale in Alpharetta.
Jeni’s Ice Cream – opened a new location in Decatur on November 6. It turns out that many of their ice cream and sorbet flavors are gluten free, and a couple of ice cream sandwiches too.
Le Metro Creperie – has launched an online store for to-go orders. This restaurant is located in Sweet Auburn Curb Market and serves up both sweet and savory gluten-free crepes.
Osteria del Figo – has closed in the Westside Provisions District and opened in its new home on 907 Marietta Street. The restaurant is now called FIGO Pasta. They offer gluten-free pasta and denote all of their gluten-free options on the menu.
Paces & Vine Restaurant – opened on October 24 in Vinings and while there menu doesn’t denote gluten-free options, many dishes can be modified.
Parish – According to Chef Zeb they offer Udi’s Gluten Free buns and breads for their sandwiches. Ask your server to guide you through the menu to their dishes that can be prepared gluten free.
Red Sky Tapas – is a great place to go for a well-rounded gluten-free lunch. I recommend ordering the White Pizza (Parmesan cream spread w/ bacon, Portobello mushrooms and mozzarella), the Chicken Artichoke Dip (chicken, artichokes, spinach, and cream cheese w/ a kick), the Buffalo Chicken Wrap (with blue cheese crumbles and blue cheese dressing), and the Flourless Chocolate Brownie topped with ice cream and peanut butter sauce. Pizzas are served on Udi’s Gluten Free crusts, which also double as the toasted bread for dips.
True Food Kitchen – is rolling out fall flavors on its updated menu that features these new gluten-free items: Thai Green Papaya Salad, Autumn Ingredient Salad, Harvest Chopped Salad, and Butternut Squash Pizza.
So much gluten-free food and so little time to devour it all. What looks good?
