Supporting funding for Multiple Sclerosis research is at the center of Moore’s heart because his strong and courageous mother, Marilyn, has been battling this autoimmune disease that attacks the nervous system and damages the myelin sheath in which causes adverse affects to communication from the nerve cells to various parts of the body. Thus, he has seen the trials and obstacles that those with Multiple Sclerosis face, and it is his mission to make sure that no one should have to face them with no support in place. So, in addition to proceeds from BabyGirl going to funding MS research, part of the proceeds are also going to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Projects such as BabyGirl and organizations such as the National Multiple Sclerosis Society make tremendous contributions towards the funding of research, advocacy, education, and community support and services to those affected by MS. Thanks to the support from BabyGirls like you and all who donate to support Multiple Sclerosis research, great gains towards discovering effective restorative treatments, such as the “success achieved through the enhancement of myelin repair in mice,” for those with Mulitple Sclerosis according to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. So, wearing BabyGirl is not about Shemar Moore nor the clothes. It’s about coming together to support those who are struggling with Multiple Sclerosis at the most trying time of their lives.
Prices for all items range from $25.00 – $28.00 and sizes range from XS to 3XL. Part of the proceeds from the sale of these items go to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Additionally, Moore works with other organizations such as Race to Erase MS, which is an organization founded by Nancy Davis that is also dedicated to treatment and cure of Multiple Sclerosis. In May, Shemar participated in their 21st Annual Race to Erase MS Gala which raised over $1.75 million to benefit the foundation’s Center Without Walls program that, according to the Race to Erase MS-Center Without Walls website, works to provide a “link between the medical community and multidisciplinary scientific programs and expertise across the country to advance the understanding of the cause of MS and to develop new treatments.” Along with using BabyGirl get the word out about Multiple Sclerosis and build support Multiple Sclerosis research, he also uses his tv appearances on such as The Arsenio Hall Show and The Talk to promote support for Multiple Sclerosis research.
