The Peninsula Paris marked the entry of Peninsula Hotels in Europe. Operated by the Hong-Kong and Shangai Hotels Limited (listed at the Hong-Kong stock exchange), the Peninsula Hotels so far were limited to Asia and the United Staes. Previously a 19th century Haussmanian building (acquired for 460 M$, its design, luxury and comfort are considered unprecedented in the City of Lights. Located at 19 Avenue Kléber, the hotel is at the heart of Paris, just a short distance from famous museums, monuments like the Arc de Triomphe, and luxury shopping centers: location is the core strategy of The Peninsula Hotels.
Rebuilding cost 338M : the architectural designs were ahndled by Richard Martinet of Affine architecture & interior design, while the interiors were being taken care by Henry Leung of Hong Kong-based Chhada Siembieda & Associates Ltd. On the inside, the 200 rooms and interior feature some of the finest elements, such as fine marble, gold leaf finishing, and rich wood paneling, all of which boast the craftsmanship of the French.
Aside from The Kléber Bar and The Kleber Cigar Lounge , the following four restaurants in Peninsula Paris are considered the finest hotels for gourmet dining. Serving French cuisine at the rooftop of the hotel, L’Oiseau Blanc restaurant, bar and terrace offers to tantalize your senses through the “bistronomique” menu and views of the city’s famous monuments. Acclaimed Alsatian Chef Sidney Redel offers a wonderful combination of edibles, including veal sweetbreads and kidneys, artichoke velouté, and L’envol (a dessert combining chocolate cream, raspberry sorbet, compote and hazelnut shortbread biscuit). Famous for its signature dumpling selections like Dim Sum and Ha Kao (steamed dumplings), the restaurant’s menu features gourmet courses like barbecued suckling pig, roasted pigeon marinated in osmanthus, and wok-fried blue lobster with spring onions and ginger. The Lobby at Peninsula Hotel in Paris used to be a grand dining room and it still flaunts its original Belle Époque design. Located on the ground floor, the restaurant offers a French and international menu throughout the day. Chef Laurent Poitevin, who completed two assignments for the French Minister of the Interior, specializes in fish and meat entrees like snacked tuna loin with agira potatoes and matured beef filet with potatoes and garlic.
