NBC will air the primetime special “Harry Potter: The Making of Diagon Alley” tonight at 8. The hour long special was made by Adrenaline Films and is hosted by Meredith Vieira. The special takes a look at the development of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Florida in Orlando from conception to completion.
Adrenaline Films has created an event page for fans to join on Facebook for the magical special. “Harry Potter: The Making of Diagon Alley” features stars of the Harry Potter film series Bonnie Wright, James Phelps, and Oliver Phelps. There will also be in-depth interviews with the creative team brought this magical fairy land to life.
On June 18, Universal Orlando announced that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley will officially open on July 8. Visitors will approach the muggle London street front which features Grimmauld Place (complete with Kreacher the house elf peering out a window), and the magical Knight Bus (where people can interact with the conductor and the shrunken head from “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”). Guests can then enter Diagon Alley through a brick wall, just like Harry Potter did for the first time with Hagrid in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”
Inside Diagon Alley visitors will experience a wondrous fairy world of witches, wizards, goblins, and other magical beings. Folks can exchange muggle money for wizarding world currency at the Gringotts money exchange. The currency can be used to buy refreshments or for shopping anywhere within the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Diagon Alley features familiar shops and eateries from the Harry Potter books and movies like: Ollivander’s Wand Shop, Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions, Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour, The Leaky Cauldron, and so much more.
Tune in to NBC tonight at 8 for this behind-the-scenes look at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley.
