Hästens is a company that started in 1852. With a factory in Köping, Sweden, they make beds by hand. These are high-end products with a 25-year guarantee. There are many layers to their beds and they are very pricey but are celebrated by the rich and famous. According to their website, in 1953, “The Swedish America Line bought Hästens mattresses for the M/S Gripsholm, a great PR triumph for Hästens. Since 1952, Hästens has been the exclusive supplier of beds and mattresses to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.”
Just recently they have made another marketing victory as they will be making bedding in a collaboration with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) Business Class for its long haul fleet. We received a pillow similar to what travelers will use on their flight and it’s very nice. Covered in their warm—they say grey and white check fabric—we see it as navy and dove white, the pillow is, like their other products well made.
Features we like:
- The double zipper is fully around three sides so it can be opened up to a larger length.
- The inside is a raised stripe fabric with a high thread count
- The inside is soft, with a down fill.
- They use pure wool, flax and cotton in their products.
About Hästens and SAS
Hästens is pleased to announce its collaboration with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) Business Class for its long haul fleet. Both Hästens and SAS believe that getting some quality shut eye in-flight makes a big difference for travelers; when they rest easy, they arrive to their destinations more alert and ready to take on whatever the new destination brings.
Come early 2015, passengers will get to enjoy a high class sleeping experience: new seats that can be folded flat for maximum comfort with bedding from the world’s best bed makers, and pillows and duvets in Hästens warm grey and white check fabric, that were chosen to create a warn and relaxing experience.
