Bristol Motor Speedway, also known as “Thunder Valley,” is the quintessential Saturday night short track, the stuff that local racing is built on, and this Saturday, August 23rd, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series fans get a Saturday night shootout with the IRWIN Tools Night Race. The events kick off Wednesday, August 20th, with Camping World Truck Series and Whelen Modified Tour action, followed by the Nationwide Series race on Friday, August 22nd.
On-track action begins Wednesday, with gates opening at 8:30 a.m. ET – the same time the Modifieds take to the track for practice. Truck Series practice begins at 10 a.m. ET, followed by two more practices sessions – Modifieds at 11 a.m. ET and Trucks at noon ET. Modified qualifying is at 2:45 p.m. ET, with Truck Series qualifying taking place at 4:40 p.m. ET. The 150-lap Modified feature, the Bush Beans 150, goes green at 6:15 p.m. ET, and the Truck Series UNOH 200 Presented by ZLOOP takes the green flag at 8:30 p.m. ET. Following Truck Series action, country star Dierks Bentley takes the stage at approximately 10:45 p.m. ET.
There’s more action on Thursday, with the Nationwide Series on track for practice at 1:30 and 3 p.m. ET. At 8:30 p.m. ET, the Night Race 5K gets underway at 8:30 p.m. ET – pre-register for the event here.
Also on Thursday, Food City Race Night takes place on State St. from 1 to 9 p.m. ET – State St. runs from Bristol, Tennessee to Bristol, Virginia, and so does the fun. There will be plenty of music, show cars, vendors, driver appearances, food sampling and more. Tickets are $5 in advance, $6 at the gate – get all the details here. There is also a special Food City Race Night in Knoxville, Tennessee at the Expo Center on Wednesday night from 4 to 8:30 p.m. ET – find out more about that event here.
Thursday’s event is followed by the Ford Transporter Parade, beginning at 9 p.m. ET at Bristol Mall and ending at the speedway – find out more about the parade here.
Action returns to the track Friday, with gates opening at 10:30 a.m. ET. Sprint Cup Series cars hit the track for practice at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. ET. Qualifying for the Nationwide Series takes place that afternoon at 3:40 p.m. ET, followed by Cup qualifying at 5:40 p.m. ET. The Food City 300 for the Nationwide Series goes green at 7:30 p.m. ET.
On Saturday, gates open at 1 p.m. ET, with a pre-race concert from country superstar Wynonna at 5:45 p.m. ET and the IRWIN Tools Night Race going green at 7:30 p.m. ET.
