Sunday September 14 will be the Hearts and Health Run/Walk at Voice of America Park in West Chester, including both a 5K, a 6 Hour Run/Relay and a 1.4 mile Family Fun Run. All of these events are sponsored by the Center for Better Health and Nutrition which works to fight obesity among local youth. Current registration and race information is available online at www.cincinnatichildrens.org. Registration for the 5K is $35 with a t-shirt and $25 without, and a medal is included for all participants, and there is a 5K family 4 pack discount available for $100 with t-shirts for all and the medals. The 6 Hour Run/Relay is currently $50 per person with a t-shirt and $40 without, also including a medal. The Family Fun Run is free, but can only be registered on race day, and all Health Works patients are able to sign up for free as well.
The Center for Better Health and Nutrition sponsors this and other events to benefit the local Health Works! Camps Out Cincinnati camp for overweight and obese children. Considering the fact the obesity is such a rising problem among America’s population, not just our children, I think we can greatly appreciate what the funds of these events and this center in general will do for our local youth.
On race day the 5K and 6 Hour Run will start at 9am, with the Family Fun Run starting at 11am. If you want to register on race day, show up early, although check the website for the starting time of race day registration.
