Season 9 of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ is officially available on Netflix!
During the first eight seasons, loyal fans watched as a group of five friends evolved into a family. There were ups and downs, moments of clarity and moments of hilarity. No one will ever forget when Ted stole the blue french horn for Robin, when Marshall’s dad died or when Barney’s dad came back. Years of love and heartbreak for Ted left viewers on the edge of their seats, waiting for the Mother to appear. Finally, at the end of season 8, there is a glimpse of who the woman is and the final chapter begins to unfold. But not before a few twists, turns and surprises throw you for some loops!
To get back into the scotch-sipping, slap-betting swing of things, below are the best moments from HIMYM seasons 1 through 8. And get caught up on all seasons, including season 9 on Netflix now.
After finding out that Robin refuses to go to the mall (but won’t say why), the group starts trying to guess the reason behind the strange aversion. Marshall’s guess? She was married in a mall, a la The Mall of America. Barney’s? He thinks she did pornography and that it is sold in stores in the mall. They promptly make a bet, with some unusual stakes: The loser gets to slap the other as hard as possible in his face.

The Hot/Crazy Scale

“A boy needs a hoop”
This moment, while a bit on the serious side for the show, is one of the few times viewers really see into Barney’s soul. After seeing his father’s new family and learning that his younger half-brother was named after their dad, Barney can’t take anymore and promptly leaves dinner. But not before trying to take down the basketball hoop, even though he doesn’t even know how to use a screwdriver. Finally his dad helps him get it down, but it doesn’t help how Barney feels. After that, Barney leaves and is never quite the same.
