Hip-Hop composer, producer and singer Aaron Vance Magill knows what it’s like to live the hard life. Raised in a broken home in Salinas CA, Magill was greatly primed to become involved in gang activity. Not only that but music as well.
Not being able to sing or rap initially, he began to Dj parties — even purchasing a Dj set that was unfortunately damaged at a party. After that Magill got into producing music, starting by downloading FL Studio 5 (a recording and beat making software program) using the popular torrent site of the time LimeWire.
“At the age of 16 I made my own vocal booth and studio. At the age of 17 I started using a Roland Fantom X6. But unfortunately drugs took my life over and the pull of the gang community began to get stronger and more appealing to me. I lost everything and started selling meth. Though I never got caught up, because of miscommunication I got into a fight with my mentors in the drug and gang lifestyle.” said Magill. “They abandoned me and told me to never come back. 2 months later I checked into teen challenge rehab and got off all the drugs. I started getting involved in church and started to move towards doing more positive things with my life. Later I picked up music again and it took off. Now I have been involved in music for a little over 3 years.” Magill added.
Aaron Magill has met almost all the musical artists that he looks up to, including Lecrae, Andy Mineo, Taddashi, and Braille. He’s also opened for big name artists such as Philthy Rich, Rapping4Tay, Scarub from Living Legends among others.
“God has blessed me richly and I know that in due time I will get greater opportunities to share my story. I am who I am.” said Magill. “My music; it’s about me, and about some of the struggles I have been through. And its most importantly to open peoples eyes to see things in a different perspective. To hear truth with love and gain wisdom.” added Magill
