“Hooray for Hollywood!” Pack your bags, stop the paper, board the family pet and bring your bucks! We are going to Hollywood- Hollywood Casino and Hotel that is! Nestled along the Ohio River in Lawrenceburg, Indiana only minutes from I-275 and Cincinnati. Formally, Argosy Casino, Hollywood opened a bigger riverboat with over 4,000 gaming positions June 26, 2009. To make your stay complete a full service hotel complete with valet parking is attached to the casino with several interior restaurants. Visit www.hollywoodindiana.com for rates and special packages to meet the needs of your stay.
Upon our visit, “the cast”, the hotel staff are welcoming and informative at the front desk. A wonderful surprise for two rail fans, our room faced the CSX railroad tracks and the river bank. Rooms were spacious with the basic necessities including lots of pillows on the comfortable white dressed bed, business and sitting areas created a relaxing place to celebrate your winnings or mourn over your loss. Accommodations available are deluxe king and deluxe double, starting July 1, 2014 nonsmoking in all rooms except the casino. Most of the packages include a percentage off your room, valet parking, a $20 casino credit, a discount at the gift shop, a discount off your future stay, and a meal included whether it be at the a Epic Buffet or one of the other restaurants on the property. No worries for parking, plenty of parking decks with an interior moving sky deck walkway that connects all the buildings together.
A second connecting interior breezeway leads to the lobby of restaurants, restrooms and the casino. Beautiful woodwork and statued balconies circle the escalators that take you to your destination for the evening. High above, in the lobby, the ceiling is a stained glass representing the world while the floor is an inlay of a compass to direct unity.
Just want a quick sandwich, soup and salad or maybe a break with a specialty coffee from the action? The American fare of Celebrity Grill or Hollywood and Grind is a great choice. Maybe the gentleman in your party would like unwind with fine cigar while in the rest of you sip on special drinks at the H-Bar and Hops House. The Final Cut Steakhouse is a fine dining establishment with premium select beef and seafood. In 2014, Final Cut was awarded Diner’s Choice by Open Table. One can read their menu and reviews at www.hollywoodindiana.com.
Our personal favorite is Epic Buffet, open for lunch and dinner. The buffet is open everyday with a brunch on Saturday and Sunday. On an average, prices range from lunch/brunch $17.99 to dinner $26.99, depending on if it is a weekday or weekend. A child’s buffet price is available as well. If you go away hungry, it’s your own fault. Counting, I saw at least 10 different entrees, several sides of vegetables, potatoes and pastas, breads, full salad bar, endless beverages, and more that 25 kinds of desserts including a self serve sundae bar and frosted mugs for root beer floats! The staff is friendly and the service is excellent. Your glass never is left empty.
Now that your tummies are filled it is on to the casino to try you luck or loose your farm and child’s college tuition at the over 2300 varieties of slots ranging from 1cent to a hundred dollars, 71 action tables, 19 poker tables, according to the website, no I didn’t count them. Lots of ATMS, Credit machines, Reward Card booths, casino hosts for help and support, couches for needed breaks or people watching, vending machines for your thirst and your smokes. (Had been a long time since we had seen a cigarette vending machine-(just curious $10.00 a pack, is that good, high, or low?) Speaking of smoke, if your sensitive like me, it seemed we hit an air wall walking towards the casino area of where the smell started, kinda takes your breath away, however on the lower level is a non smoking area. I will say the main floor casino of smoking was not too bad, good air circulation. The decor is the usual bright colors, lots of loud patterns and bright lights with I can’t begin to guess how many hidden cameras watching your every move. A full service bar and beverage delivery is available like most casinos.
If you are in the area, or passing through, take time to experience Hollywoood Casino and Hotel to try your luck, dance the night away at Boogie Nights, loose your daily stress with live entertainment at Hollywood on Roof or just enjoy the restaurants and Hotel. Come on slots, big money, big money! Ding ding ding!
