Are you having a problem at work? Have you ever thought about casting a workplace spell?
According to Marla Brooks, author of Workplace Spells: Everyday Magick on the Job, there are several spells that can help make your working life easier. But before you think double, double toil and trouble, Brooks explains that there is nothing wicked this way coming and that everyone in their own way casts spells all the time.
“When it comes to spells—and people kind of shudder when I say this—everybody casts spells everyday, whether they realize it or not,” she said. “A spell is a formalized intention, just like a prayer. When somebody is praying for something or hoping fervently, they’re getting the word out into the ethers and casting a spell.”
Brooks says that there is a spell for any workplace situation and some of them are quite easy to execute.
Dealing with Stress
For people who are dealing with workplace stress, Brooks suggests a simple candle spell that she calls “Melt Away Stress.” All you need to do this spell is a white, scentless candle and the essential oil of your choice. Find a comfortable place to do the spell and take a few deep breaths. Then Brooks says to light the candle and say “Candle melt and take away the worries that I have this day. Bring to me sublime relief and put an end to all my grief. Peace and tranquility come to me, this is all I ask so mode it be.”
Make a Workplace Wish
Do you want a promotion or a raise? Brooks suggests that you create a wish sack, which is made from a piece of paper and a pinch of powdered cinnamon or ginger. Just write your wish on the piece of paper, sprinkle the herb on top of it, and twist the corners of the paper until it looks like a small sack. Then place the sack in a bowl, visualize your wish and light the sack. The way the wish sack burns will indicate the outcome of your wish: If it burns entirely, the wish will come through immediately. If you need to relight the paper a few times, your wish will take some time to be answered. If you need to light the sack more than twice, Brooks says this wish is not in the cards.
“It’s a form of divination in a way. How the wish sack burns depends on how the outcome is going to be,” she said. “Sometimes we all wish for things in the heat of the moment that we probably shouldn’t be wishing for and our spirit guides and angels have to step in and decide for us. Sometimes something isn’t right, even though you really want it.”
Growing a Business
For people who are starting their own businesses, Brooks suggests an easy spell to attract money and success. All you have to do is plant basil and take care of it. As the basil grows, your business will grow along with it.
Brooks notes that, despite what people may see in movies, spells are not necessarily going to give you whatever you want—especially if you have not put in any work on your end to achieve it.
“I don’t care how many spells you do, if you’re trying to get a raise and you’re not qualified, your boss isn’t going to give it to you no matter what you do,” she said. “If you’re in an entry level position and you want to be the boss of the company next week, it’s not going to happen—spell or no spell.”
