Have you been wanting to use video to build relationship and credibility with your target audience but, can’t seem to figure out how to do it without it looking all amateurish. It’s amazing how many hours it can take to record a five minute video.
When you first begin shooting videos it can feel a little weird. Speaking into a camera and laughing at your own jokes takes some getting used to.
And getting that five minute take just right can turn into hours of unusable footage. It’s enough to make you want to take a nap.
Even if you are not a master speaker, there are creative ways you can use to communicate effectively without putting yourself or your viewers to sleep.
In the above video you’re going to discover some easy tricks to help you create high quality professional marketing videos your audience wants to watch – all by yourself.
If you want to record videos for your business but speaking into the lense has been challenging for you, here we go…
Step 1:Write Your Script
If you are a great speaker, maybe you don’t need to script. Or, if your vision for your videos is to have more of a “sitting across from the kitchen table” kind of feel, then you can ignore this step and the next. You should approach scripting like writing a blog post. In fact, if you have an archive of blog posts already done, you can simple use those as scripts and re-purpose them into video format. It’s a quick way to get started. If you’re writing a new script, just remember to keep it natural; even add little conversational nuances to help you come across like a human.
Step 2: Time Your Script
Once you’ve written your script, you’ll want to time it to make sure it isn’t too long.
A good goal is to make your videos anywhere from one minute to five minutes long- the shorter, the better.
Of course it’s not a hard and fast rule, but people have short attention spans. So, if your video begins to run long, you may consider breaking it up into a series and create a bit of anticipation.
Step 3: Add Your Script to CuePrompter
The teleprompter is a tool used by Saturday night live actors and newscasters to perform and report while giving the viewer a seamless viewing experience.
You can do that too with cueprompter.
Cueprompter is a free online teleprompter that allows you to read your script more naturally and avoid looking down at a piece of paper.
You want to lock eyes with the lense as you would if you were locking eyes with someone right in front of you.

Step 4: Set up Your Camera:
Option 1: Use Your laptop, desktop or mobile device web cam. The simplest way would be to use what you got. Reading from the screen allows you to look as if you are looking into the lense when you are really reading from the screen.
Option 2: Use a digital camera and tripod. For a more complex set up, position your lights behind your camera on your tripod. Use a music stand to position your laptop screen right below the camera lense. Do a couple of test shots to make sure the camera angle is correct.
That’s how you can create high quality professional marketing videos your audience wants to watch – all by yourself.
