F-list.net is a fairly popular roleplay chat room with multiple rooms available for various fandoms and scene types. The site is an adult site and you must be 18 or older to use it, but just because it’s an 18+ site doesn’t mean that sexual roleplay is all that’s available. Many of the fandoms, from broad rooms such as Canon Characters to the user created rooms like Square Enix or Dragon Age, have a focus on non-sexual themes where people simply goof off and have fun with one another in character.
Some of the more popular roleplay chat rooms on F-list are based around video game fandoms. From RPGs such as “Final Fantasy” and “Dragon Age” to MOBAs like “League of Legends” to comic book-based video games like “Infinite Crisis” and “Marvel Heroes” a video game fandom that suits you probably has its own chat room.
But how do you go about using the roleplay chat rooms on F-list?
First, you have to make a profile for the character you wish to play. This can be a canon character from your favorite game, anime, cartoon, book or even a celebrity or you can create an original character. The only limit is your imagination – and the site rules which you can find here.
Profiles should have a character name on them rather than a screen name as you would use on a messaging service. So if you play to play Deadpool, you should name your profile “Deadpool – Wade” or “Wade Winston Wilson”. Remember that canon characters are often popular so you may need to try a few different first name, last name, codename combinations before you find one not taken. Hyphens and underscores are also allowed in names.
Fill out the profile with information about the character and maybe a bit about how you plan to play the character. This is important to do before logging into chat, and make sure you set your gender under the info tab because this sets the color of your name and is a primary way people find compatible roleplay partners.
From the homepage click the ‘enter the chat’ button and log in as your new character profile.
Navigating the site can seem a bit intimidating at first, especially with the user rooms section, but once you find rooms you like you rarely have to tackle that task again. Choose the ‘channels’ button and scroll down through the list. Choose any rooms that interest you as you can have multiple rooms open as tabs along the sidebar. This lets you try out many rooms at once and simply close the ones you decide you don’t like. Canon Characters, Canon Characters OOC, Fantasy and Scifi are a great place to get started for most video game-based profiles.
You can then check the private rooms which are simply user created and user owned rooms. This list is huge. The best way to navigate it is to push ctrl+f and choose a keyword to search for. For example, if you want to play a comic book character, search ‘comic’, if you want to play a League of Legends character search ‘league of legends’, etc. Again, open any rooms that look a little promising and try them out. Remove them if they do not fit your preferences for any reason.
