This talented Prague born actor has quite the impressive filmography that includes his recent role as Anatoly Knyazev CW’s hit show ‘Arrow.’ Many sci-fi fans know and love him from his fabulous portrayal of Dr. Zelenka in ‘Stargate: Atlantis.’ Nykl has a familiar face for a reason with his guest roles in such popular TV shows as ‘Sanctuary,’ ‘Eureka,’ and ‘Fringe.’ After moving to Victoria, BC as a young kid, it was not long before he found his talent for acting and never looked back. He has got some awesome projects in the works but is sworn to secrecy on the details.
Q. You helped start off season ten of ‘Supernatural’ right with your character of Lester Morris in episodes ‘Reichenbach’ and ‘Soul Survivor.’ What can you share with my readers about your experience on the set?
A. Quite fun. The show has been running ten years now so it’s a well-oiled machine. That’s a great set to be on. When I arrived for my filming at 1:30 in the morning I saw a group of people gathered in this quiet residential neighborhood in Vancouver. I thought it odd that we had extras for an intimate kitchen scene, but it turned out to be fans and not extras. Go to bed people!
Q. What can you share about your films ‘Air,’ ‘Tomorrowland,’and any other projects that you have in the works?
A. Nothing! Seriously. I got my scenes from a vault and had to sign several NDA’s not to say anything about a project I knew nothing about in the first place. So much secrecy. How do you journalists do your job in this environment? I can barely do mine.
Q. You have such an impressive filmography including my personal favorite, your character of Dr. Zelenka from ‘Stargate: Atlantis.’ I swear you were one of the only characters on the show who at least tried to put Rodney McKay in his place. Do you stay in touch with any of the show’s cast?
A. I just sat beside him signing autographs in Auckland. We did a couple panels together. It was nice to catch up. He’s a great guy. We’re talking about doing something together. Any requests?
Q. I read that you have been a director, a producer, and your fluently speak English, Czech, French and Spanish. Do you have any quirky hidden talents your fans be surprised to know about?
A. I can juggle apples while eating them.
Q. I’m going to end with what’s become my signature question. If you were a baseball player, what would your walk up song be?
A. “It’s the eye of the tiger it’s the thrill of the fight…” There. Now it’s in your head.
