A question that man has asked for generations : “Is there life in the universe?” There are people who believe that life exists on other planets in the far reaches of outer space. They believe this because of the belief that life evolved on planet Earth, and since the universe is so vast and contains so many heavenly bodies, life probably began and evolved on other planets as well. But is this reasoning the truth or is there flaws in it? There has been many science fiction books and movies that have influence this thought such as Star Trek, ET, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, 2001, A Space Odyssey, Independence Day, War of the Worlds and many more to numerous to list. But this thought has permeated our culture a lot longer than when these books and movies were made. Evolution has saturated our culture over a 150 years, and people have concluded that life must have evolved on other planets similar to ours. But overwhelming evidence shows that life is so complex it could not have evolved anywhere!
There has been many sightings and stories about unidentified flying objects (UFOs). But are these lights and objects of extraterrestrial origin or are they of terrestrial origin? Could they even be of supernatural origin? I believe they were here since the beginning of creation and our not of physical origin but of angelic origin. God created angels, Lucifer (Satan), cherubim, seraphim that can appear in our physical world. But the evidence that UFOs are from extraterrestrial civilizations, although not disproved, has not been verified and usually relies on the truthfulness, rationality, and accuracy of alleged witnesses.
Could God have created physical life elsewhere? Certainly, but the Bible is largely silent on this subject. However, the Bible does say, “For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is,” (Exodus 20:11a). So, if physical life were created in outer space, it would have happened during the six days of creation (Genesis 1:1-31).
These three Bible verses suggest that conscious, rational, physical life is unique to Earth only. Romans 8:22 states, “For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.” This is because of Adam’s sin. This would be a strange statement if humanlike beings existed in outer space, because it would mean that although not descended from Adam, they suffer because of his sin. Romans 5:12 plainly tells us, “through one man (Adam) sin entered the world.” The Greek word for “world” is “kosmos”, which generally means the entire universe. So if intelligent beings exist beyond Earth, they would be suffering for Adam’s sin too. Genesis 1:14 says that heavenly bodies (sun, moon, stars, planets) were made “for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years.“ This passage of Scripture is for us on planet Earth. It does not say they were created as habitats for other creatures.
Is there life in outer space? Many people young and old, speculate on this subject, and some want to believe that life is in outer space, and this life they believe is superior to ours. While they think they are right, little rational basis for this belief, either scientific or biblical can be produced.
