Jasmine Tridevil has become a media sensation simply by doing one thing: Surgically adding a third breast to her chest. US Weekly reported Sept. 22 that the Florida woman says she did it because she no longer wanted to date and that a three breasts would make her unattractive to men. Instead, doing so attracted the attention of the world…
“I got it because I wanted to make myself unattractive to men,” she explained in an interview on “The News Junkie” on Real Radio 104.1 in Orlando. “Because I don’t want to date anymore.”
Attractiveness, like beauty, lies in the eyes of the beholder. Gaining (if the Internet and regular media flood of stories is an indication) international fame (notoriety?) from having a trio of breasts possibly made Jasmine Tridevil attractive to those that fancy the unique, the unordinary, the freakish. As Us Weekly noted, the 21-year-old Tampa woman claimed to have an interview scheduled on at least one major syndicated news magazine, “Inside Edition.” She was also set for the Jimmy Kimmel show on ABC late night, a Vice magazine interview, and several radio talk show interviews.
Tridevil, a massage therapist by trade, reportedly paid $20,000 for the extra breast “augmentation.” She claims that she is bound by a confidentiality agreement to keep the name of doctor that performed the surgical procedure under wraps.
But she certainly isn’t keeping his work hidden, sharing both her story and numerous photos on Facebook and other social media platforms. In the “About” section on her Facebook page, she wrote: “Jasmine Tridevil is a woman who got a 3rd breast implant and films her daily life in Tampa to show the struggles she faces because of her surgery.”
The young woman also claims to be tired of being a massage therapist and wants her own reality show. She told “The News Junkies,” “My whole dream is to just get this show on MTV. I’m dumping every penny I have into this [a reality show she currently produces and posts to YouTube]. So if this doesn’t work, I’m through.”
And if it all sounds like an elaborate publicity stunt (or hoax), it just might be. There are plenty of detractors saying that the third breast is fake.
Plastic surgeons have come forward to say that the girl with three boobs is a hoax. Among them, board-certified plastic surgeon in New York City Dr. Matthew Schulman M.D., said he believes “100 percent that it is a hoax.” He told the Daily Dot that although theoretically possible, adding a third breast would take a “tissue expander” and six months to complete, not to mention several surgeries.
Regardless, faux or not, Jasmine Tridevil has gotten herself noticed.
