Jennifer Aniston’s weight loss secrets are a low carb diet and yoga workouts with her longtime friend and yoga teacher, Mandy Ingber. Ingber, who has trained Aniston for more than 20 years, said consistency is the secret to Jennifer’s age-defying body at 45.
“I work out with [Aniston] about three times a week, and we’ll start off warming up with a cardio routine,” Ingber told InStyle. “We’ll start off warming up with a cardio routine. And then we’ll go into a yoga routine.
“Cardio will usually be 20 to 25 minutes of spinning followed by 45 minutes of yoga, incorporating sun salutations, warrior II, triangle, and other standing poses. She loves balancing poses, like tree, half-moon pose, and warrior III.”
Surprisingly, the super-toned Aniston recently revealed she wants to lose five pounds to reach her ideal weight of 110 to 113 pounds. Many celebrities have hopped on the low carb bandwagon and follow the ketogenic, Atkins and Paleo diets, but Jennifer doesn’t stick to a particular diet. Aniston said she usually enjoys bread and bagels on weekends, but doesn’t go overboard with carbs.
Ingber said Aniston stays fit year-round with meditation, a low-carb, high protein diet and yoga. “Jennifer is a very consistent person with her nutrition,” said Ingber. Mandy said limiting processed junk foods, managing stress and drinking plenty of water is her anti-aging beauty secret.
Mandy said yoga is anti-aging and helps with weight loss because it focuses on mindfulness and stress relief.
“The idea of mindfulness and slowing down long enough to be present to the body helps to regulate your appetite and knowing when to stop,” Ingber told me in an exclusive interview. “Yoga encourages you to make healthier choices. It regulates hormones, metabolism, the digestive system and the nervous system, which decreases stress.”
Aniston agreed, saying exercise, especially yoga, is critical for emotional and mental health. “My ultimate stress reliever is exercise!” said Jennifer. “If yoga didn’t exist, I’d invent it.”
While Aniston hasn’t commented on the media firestorm surrounding Renee Zellweger’s alleged plastic surgeries, she recently said she refuses cave in to the Hollywood pressure to get plastic surgery in a bid to look young forever.
Jennifer said her fiance, Justin Theroux, is vehemently opposed to plastic surgery, and she’s happy to oblige. “There is this pressure in Hollywood to be ageless,” she said.
“I think what I have been witness to, is seeing women trying to stay ageless with what they are doing to themselves. I am grateful to learn from their mistakes, because I am not injecting s–t into my face.”
Aniston, who has been open about the nose job she got during her 20s, said celebrities who go overboard with plastic surgery and Botox injections look desperate. “I see them and my heart breaks,” said Jennifer. “They are trying to stop the clock and all you can see is an insecure person who won’t let themselves just age.”
