Jessica Arrendale is the mom who could only think of hiding her baby as her life ended at the hands of her boyfriend. It was her infant daughter’s safety first as she is beaten, shot and killed. This story has touched the hearts of many around the country today.
Jessica Arrendale, 37, hid her six-month-old baby girl in the toilet as the baby’s father opened fire on the mom holding the baby girl, according to the Christian Post on Sept. 22.
That baby girl remained in the toilet for 13 hours until police found her under her mother’s dead body. The hero mom died slumped over the toilet bowl concealing the baby inside. Arendale had somehow twisted into position to fall so that she covered the baby, a move that is baffling cops today who don’t know just how she did that.
As Travelers Today reports, Jessica had been beaten with a baseball bat then she was the target of a shooting. Through all of this, it was about saving that baby’s life. She knew that she was about to die, but she did everything within her power to make sure her baby girl did not.
Arrendale’s boyfriend and the father of the baby was the man who killed her during a night of horror inside her Smyrna, Georgia townhouse. They had come home from having dinner together and he was drunk and became belligerent. Arrendale took her infant and ran upstairs to get away from Antoine Davis, the man about to kill her.
Arrendale used a baseball bat to try and ward him off, but Davis overpowered her and took the bat and hit the mom holding her daughter a few times, once even clipping the baby’s head police believe. The baby had a traumatic head injury when she was found.
Arrendale then barricaded herself and the baby in the bathroom, but Davis got his assault rifle and opened fire, shooting the mother of his daughter in the head killing her. The mom didn’t take her last breath until she slid her baby into the toilet bowl. She died draped over the top of the bowl with her body hiding the baby from Davis’s view.
Davis was found dead in the baby’s room. He turned the gun on himself. Arrendale’s mother believes that Davis was going to kill the infant before killing himself, but it seems that the crazed drunk could not find the baby.
Colbie is still in the Children’s Health Care of Atlanta at Scottish Rite Hospital. Doctors are treating her for a head injury and hypothermia from being in the toilet bowl for 13 hours. When the baby is released she will go home with Arrendale’s mother, Teresa Ionniello.
Colbie will live with her grandmother and her 15-year-old sister, Arrendale’s daughter from a previous relationship. Colbie is only six-months-old and she has lost both her mother and her father to a horrendous and gruesome crime.
This story has touched the hearts of many around the world. A fund has been setup by Arrendale’s family and friends to help with the funeral arrangements and to help provide for her children’s future needs. In six days almost $25,000 has been donated on the Go Fund Me Site for Jessica Arrendale’s Children.
