I traveled to Abadiania Brazil in a pilgrimage recently to see the healer John of God and want to share some insights and answer that question, “Is it a scam? A hoax or do miracles truly happen at the Casa de Dom Inacio?”
Abadiânia and Medium João
I am the first to admit that I was unclear of why I was led to Abadiânia Brazil to visit Medium João, also known as John of God. I did not go with an illness to request healing, and for that I am grateful. It was clear to me that the Universe wanted me to go as I shared in “Messages from the Universe on Healing and a Course Correction.” Perhaps I needed this experience for the next step of my journey, and I trust that it will be revealed to me one day.
The first thing I observed at the Casa de Dom Inacio, the place where people gather to see John of God, is that the people are different. People come from all over the world; gather in one place, sharing many powerful emotions, feelings and beliefs. While I was at the Casa, each day hundreds assembled, and one of those days it was clear that over a thousand people came to experience John of God.
There is an impalpable element here that is difficult to explain. Perhaps it is as simple as feeling unconditional love for one and another. When I looked into the eyes of those gathered, mostly strangers, I did not see strangers. Instead, I saw an extension of myself, I felt and knew we were connected, we were one. People come from all over the world and gather in faith, hope and love, in Oneness, all of which are powerful elements to trigger miracles.
I witnessed physical surgeries performed on stage, less than ten feet away. According to those I spoke with, who had surgery, they never felt the scalpel penetrating their skin or scraping their eye. When a forceps-like instrument was plunged deeply up the nose of one man, he later told me, “I never felt pain.” These people never had anesthetic, or antibiotics to prevent infection. Following the procedure, they took herbs. I spoke with one woman who had her eye scraped nearly two years earlier; she told me that the area of concern she initially requested healing for had never healed; however, she did have healing in something apparently more important.
The majority of those visiting the Casa choose to have a spiritual intervention, over the physical operation. A spiritual intervention is occasionally referred to as psychic surgery. In this case, the person goes before John of God (with an Entity incorporated) and a spiritual intervention may be prescribed. (The people are later asked if they’d prefer a physical surgery.) A person enters a small room, with others, and sits in a pew. With a hand over heart, each participant brings to mind the areas they are requesting healing. It can be a request for physical, emotional or spiritual healing. Here, the person is bathed in healing energy and is worked-on by Light spirits (Light entities) and receives a multi-level healing. Since disease begins in our spiritual or auric fields before it manifests in the body, an intervention is an opportunity to correct dis-ease before it manifests in the physical.
While I was in Brazil, I spoke with many who regularly returned to Abadiânia. Each claimed to have received some healing that encouraged his or her return to Brazil. One woman was on her fifth visit from the United States and was working on healing a physical disease. She claimed that each time she came to see John of God she experienced a healing on some level and was confident with her continued return her incurable disease would heal.
Another woman from our group had seen John of God while he was in the United States or Canada. At the time, she was having issues with her hip and had asked for healing, receiving a spiritual intervention. In the days following her procedure, she had an x-ray of her hip. Her doctor brought the x-rays to her and asked, “Who operated on you?” He showed her the x-rays. There were internal sutures from her spiritual intervention, though there was no external sign of surgery. She told the physician, “John of God.” The woman brought those x-rays with her to Brazil, for all to see, including John of God.
An Angel in a Wheelchair
I met a teenage girl in a wheelchair; a beautiful soul named Rachel. She was born with osteogenesis imperfecta, a rare disease and her bones are so brittle and malformed that her survival of birth was a miracle in itself. Most simple things are a hazard to Rachel, like a sneeze had previously broken a rib. It was clear to me that this young woman is on this planet with a high purpose.
Her parents shared that they began interactions with the John of God regimen from afar. Her picture had been presented before the entity (John of God after incorporation), and she was prescribed the John of God herbs, though she’d have to come see him. The family started seeing shifts in their lives. For example, a home relocation enabled them to find a better school for their daughter. Rachel was going on three months without a broken bone (a rarity). Seemingly, unrelated occurrences had launched the family into a steadfast journey of healing for their daughter (and perhaps themselves).
My most memorial experience of my trip was when Rachel’s father approached me outside of the Casa. He told me that Rachel wanted to show me something. He brought me in the back of the Casa, where there was a set of physical therapy parallel bars. His daughter, sitting in her wheelchair at one end of the bars, smiled at me. In one of those moments of a lifetime, this girl stood with the assistance of the bars and in the next moment she let go of them, with eyes wide open and a smile that I will remember until my dying day.
John of God a Hoax?
I have read articles proposing that John of God is trickery, a scam a hoax, a charlatan. There is a phenomenon here that cannot be explained in a brief article, though I can say that miracles do happen at the Casa. It is no hoax.
John of God is the first to admit, however that he does not do the healing, and God does. The entire situation is healing. When people gather in faith, hope and love, they connect with that Oneness energy, their higher self, and spark miracles. The Casa itself sits upon a mountain with a vortex of quartz crystals, known for their healing qualities. The spiritual energies (Entities) that incorporate into Medium Joao walked this planet at one time as healers.
Whether John of God, the entities or aligning with the I AM presence is the catalyst for this work or some synergistic effect, does it matter? It is clear that something miraculous is happening at the Casa. This man, João Teixeira de Faria (John of God), is now in his 70s. We do not know how long he will be walking this planet. I, for one, am thrilled I was able to witness this phenomenon firsthand.
How am I different after this experience? Perhaps that is another topic for discussion.
About My John of God Pilgrimage
I went on my John of God pilgrimage with a group of Mile Hi Church participants through the Sacred Light Tours with Heather Cumming, Laura Gwen and Monica Evon. We stayed at the Hotel Rei Davi, owned by Heather Cumming, who is co-author of “John of God: The Brazilian Healer Who’s Touched the Lives of Millions.” Heather is also one of the translators at the Casa.
