Kate Upton has a sizzling bikini body which she maintains with a low-carb, sugar-free diet, but was told to lose weight by countless modeling agents.
“Agents have put me under pressure to lose weight in the past,” Upton told Elle UK. “Clients loved me and then I would go into an agency and feel like cr*p about myself. They would say, ‘Just lose five more [pounds].’ But I couldn’t give a cra*p. I still don’t.”
Kate, a former Victoria’s Secret model, has made the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue two years in a row by listening to her inner voice. She has learned to dismiss fat-shaming comments from agents and bloggers, saying she embraces her voluptuous curves. “I’ve been begging for this body my whole life!” she said.
Despite being hailed for her bombshell good looks, Upton admits she doesn’t always feel beautiful. “Everybody at some point in their life doesn’t like themselves,” she said. “A lot of times I’m puffy and bloated. I like myself in general, but there are days when you just don’t.”
Low-Carb, Sugar-Free Diet and Circuit Training Are Kate’s Secrets
Whether she’s having a good or bad day, Kate works hard to maintain her sizzling bikini body, and follows a low-carb, sugar-free diet and does rigorous cross-training workouts. Upton’s trainer, David Kirsch, said she is very disciplined.
“Everyone wants to know if Kate is disciplined with her diet and exercise, and the answer is that she is amazing about her diet,” Kirsch told Access Hollywood. “She follows my ABC’s: no alcohol, bread, or processed carbs, and also no sugar. I don’t have Kate on a specifically gluten-free diet, but by the nature of what she eats, it is gluten free.”
David, author of The Ultimate New York Body Plan, said intense circuit-training workouts are the foundation of their exercise sessions.
“We do extreme, intense circuit training,” said Kirsch. “We do three or four circuits and change them up a lot. There’s lots of core, butt and thigh-shaping and toning. We work with resistance bands, stability balls, do lateral lunges for the inner thighs and for arms we do boxing.”

Despite her success, the blonde beauty has been widely criticized for being too meaty to be a supermodel. Kate, who has been been called a “lardy, fat pig” and a tacky-looking bimbo, is shocked that her weight is such a hot topic, but has answered the criticism by proclaiming that she loves and accepts her body just as it is.
“It’s kind of funny to think, ‘The news is talking about whether I’m fat or not,” she told Vogue. “It was hard at first. You sit there and you’re like, ‘Is something wrong with me?’ I can work out and I can stay healthy, but I can’t change some things. I really just live my life. I love my body.”
Upton’s laid-back attitude about her body is a stark contrast to the harrowing reality of rampant eating disorders among top models, especially those walking the runway during Fashion Week.
