Katie Holmes has opened up in a new interview about her split from Tom Cruise, her important role as a mother to Suri, and her excitement about a new movie. The talented actress discussed the new comedy coming out later this month, “Miss Meadows,” in which she will be playing Jackie Kennedy. According to MSN Entertainment News this Wednesday, October 29, 2014, Holmes also revealed that her past relationships do not define her and that she feels “ready for new challenges.”
Although new faces often take the Hollywood limelight, Katie Holmes remains a well-respected actress and beloved celebrity by many fans. Holmes shared in a new interview her latest thoughts on her starring role in an upcoming film, “Miss Meadows,” which will be hitting U.S. theaters this November 14. The star will be playing a follow-up part to her portrayal of Jackie Kennedy in the hit flick, “The Kennedys: After Camelot.”
With many new opportunities headed in Tom Cruise’s ex’s way, Holmes revealed to PEOPLE that she ultimately feels more than “ready for new challenges” both at work and in her personal life. The star noted,
“I don’t have any fear now. I don’t have a lot of rules for myself, and I don’t take myself that seriously.”
Speaking of her history with Tom Cruise, continues ABC News today, Katie Holmes said she hopes her split will not define her in terms of the well-known actor — and that she refuses to be labeled by it. Following her high-profile breakup with Tom Cruise back in 2012, Holmes never opened up very much on the major split. Now, she appears prepared to start breaking the ice and accepting what happened, and where she is currently moving toward. Katie wants to be who she is now, not who she once was in the past.
“I don’t want that moment in my life to define me, to be who I am,” she says of her 2012 split from the actor. “I don’t want that to be what I’m known as. I was an actor before, an actor during and an actor now.”
Finally, the star opened up on how she is always working on being a better mother. Suri, who is already 8 years old, is a light in her life and keeps her feeling young and active. Being a mom is hard work, but Holmes believes it’s certainly a blessing as well.
“Between tickle fights and glitter art,” Katie laughed, “I try to throw in some manners along the way … I’m learning every day, and I have been since the minute I became a mom. Suri means everything to me.”
