Kelly Rowland has revealed that her first child is a boy. She accidentally let the information slip during an interview with Fox411, which published the interview on July 31, 2014. Rowland has not publicly announced when she is due to give birth, but based on photos, it looks like she will give birth before the end of 2014.
According to Fox 411: When discussing the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards and her #AmpYourFab photo contest with Caress, Rowland said, “We’re very excited. So far, everything has been good. I just feel like the baby is already rotten — like literally, my Caress family has gotten him all of his little bathing stuff, his toys — it’s just so cool.”
When Kelly realized that she had revealed the sex of her unborn child, she added: “It, it’s…aw, f*ck it! It’s a boy. It’s a boy!”
Rowland also said, “My baby’s nursery is fly. I just wanted it to feel like a comfortable museum. Almost loft-y like. It’s just looks really cool. He’s got these huge pieces of artwork. It’s just really fresh.”
According to Fox411, Rowland then asked her publicist, who was in the room, to call Rowland’s husband/manager Tim Witherspoon: “Can you please tell him that I spilled the beans? I’m sorry, baby. But yes, it’s very exciting.”
On June 19, 2014, Rowland publicly confirmed her pregnancy by posting an Instagram photo of herself wearing a midriff-baring top that shows her baby bump while she is meditating on a yoga mat. Based on the photo, she looks about three or four months pregnant. Rowland wrote in an accompanying message: “I’m in love with boxing and yoga right now. It just feels good, it’s really empowering. I just feel like I’m getting my little strength back and getting my little jabs in. I think that nothing should change whether it comes with your age or whatever. I think you should always do what you love to do.”
On June 10, 2014, Rowland dropped a hint about her pregnancy when she posted an Instagram photo of a pair of child-sized Air Jordan sneakers next to a pair of adult Air Jordan sneakers. She wrote in the accompanying message: “I’ll be stuntin like my daddy.”
Rowland wed her manager Tim Witherspoon in a small, secretive ceremony in Costa Rica on May 9, 2014. According to Us Weekly, sisters Beyoncé Knowles and Solange Knowles were among the approximately 30 guests who attended the wedding. Beyoncé and Rowland are former members of Destiny’s Child.
The Knowles sisters went to the wedding just hours after attending the Met Gala in New York City. Security footage obtained by TMZ allegedly shows Solange kicking and hitting Beyoncé’s husband, Jay-Z, in an elevator at a Met Gala after-party. (All parties involved have not yet commented.) Jay-Z apparently did not attend Rowland’s wedding, but Us Weekly reported that “Beyoncé took to her Instagram the same day to share a shot of herself in what appeared to be a bridesmaids dress, captioning the photo with a mere: ‘Good morning.'”
An unnamed source told Us Weekly: “It was a quick, simple ceremony — only around 30 people.” In December 2013, Rowland announced that she was engaged to Witherspoon. The couple reportedly began dating each other in 2011.
Rowland told FOX411 that her female friends who are mothers have already given her plenty of advice. “All my girls have given me advice. I have a wonderful crew of girlfriends. As women, we’re powerful, and women have been so supportive. They always have such nice things to say, whether it’s ‘Oh my gosh, you look so nice,’ or giving me different advice, and that feels good.”
As for her food cravings while she is pregnant, Rowland told E! News that sandwiches are her biggest craving: “I love rye with turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions — the works. I like to make it myself then cut it open and just look at it.”
Rowland (who is 33) rose to fame as a member of the singing group Destiny’s Child, which first hit it big in the late 1990s. She was a judge on “The X Factor” U.K. for just one year (2011), when she replaced Dannii Minogue. Rowland has denied tabloid reports that she was fired from “The X Factor” U.K. because she asked for too much money. Rowland said that she left the show because she wanted to spend more time on recording her fourth solo album. She became a judge on “The X Factor” U.S. in 2013, when she replaced Britney Spears.
In February 2014, Fox officially announced that “The X Factor” U.S. was cancelled. The cancellation had been expected for months, due to the show’s rapidly declining ratings.
As for her relationship with Witherspoon, Rowland has gone to great lengths not to discuss it too much in the media. In interviews, she usually does not mention his name when she is asked about the special man in her life.
