Diane Von Furstenberg presented her Spring 2015 Collection during NYFW on Sunday with celebrity models such as Kendal Jenner, supermodel Naomi Campbell and Victoria’s Secret Angel Candice Swaenpoel at Spring Studios. The “Keeping Up with the Kardashian’s” star channeled her inner Brigitte Bardot for DVF, and the Hair Care Examiner has a backstage pass to recreate the sexy hair from Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week New York.
Kris Jenner approved of Kendall’s Diane Von Furstenberg runway look reported E! News. The 18-year-old’s mother reposted a photo of her daughter on Instagram captioned by, “So beautiful today @kendalljenner walking in the Diane Von Furstenberg SS15 show!! #NYFW @DVF @Dianeloves #SS15.” The team behind Kendall Jenner’s NYFW hair emailed a step-by-step guide to recreate the Brigitte Bardot inspired look.
DVF has been a fashion icon since 1972; empowering women as the originator of the signature wrap dress. Her latest collection inspired Orlando Pita to channel Bardot’s “messy, undone” sex appeal for the models such as Kendall Jenner who showcased the line for NYFW. Said Diane Von Furstenburg, “The inspiration for the hair is the French Riviera. It is all about the south of France in the 50s when it was very glamorous. The hair is key and needed to look beautiful.”
Celebrity hairstylist, Orlando Pita for BioSilk Hair Care, was the professional assigned the task of releasing the French sex symbol from the 50s and 60s to the current runway. According to Pita, “Bardot was the original ‘bed head’ before the term was even popular.” Instead of copying Brigitte’s classic “retro” style the mastermind wanted to “create volume in a more modern way” for the Diane Von Furstenberg Spring 2015 collection. In the press release Orlando advised professionals to be “unique” with the looks they create and not always “stick to trends” in order “to be successful and be noticed.”
To create the look seen on Kendall Jenner at DVF’s NYFW show, Orlando suggests, “allowing the products to create a teased effect.” To do so, prepare the hair with BioSilk Volumizing Therapy Root Lift for lift and volume at the root area. Next, blow-dry the hair with CHI TOUCH Touchscreen Blow Dryer and CHI Turbo Nylon Brush to “lift at the base and create a slight bend to the ends.” Once the hair is completely dry, apply BioSilk Silk Therapy Dry Clean Shampoo to “add additional texture at the root area for lift and volume”
Section the hair and use the CHI G2 Ceramic and Titanium Digital Hairstyling Iron to bump the ends. To enhance a “natural lift at the root area instead of teasing,” Pita applied BioSilk Volumizing Therapy Texturizing Powder. “This is the modern way to avoid backcombing or teasing for lift. I love this product!”
