It only took five months for actress Kerry Washington to restore her pre-baby body. Now everyone’s asking how she did it, and the secret is a combination of working with a personal trainer and a Paleo-style low carb diet. The new season of her sizzling hot show “Scandal” has given Kerry the opportunity to show off her weight loss success, reported Hollywood Life on Sept. 23.
Kerry is protective of her baby, and relies on a nanny to care for little Isabelle. The father of the baby is former NFL superstar Nnamdi Asomugha, and he rarely appears in public with her. Kerry even tweeted her desire to keep her life private.
“Well…I still won’t talk about my personal life on here,” Kerry tweeted in May. “But…I see your tweets. And I am filled with gratitude! XO #HappyMothersDay.”
However, Kerry, her husband and the baby recently did appear in public, reported TMZ on Sept. 24. But the couple separated from the baby, who was with a nanny. That way, they could detract attention from the infant, whose face was kept covered.
To lose that baby weight, Kerry relied on a Paleo-style low carb diet. And she has been chatty about her diet and fitness plan, in contrast to the rest of her personal life. Her trainer also revealed Kerry’s favorite foods to Shape magazine recently.
Kerry “loves coconut water, which gives her potassium and important electrolytes. She focuses on lean proteins and veggies. With the long hours she works, there’s really no room for her to play around. She needs to be in the best shape every single day, and she definitely is,” said celebrity trainer Nonna Gleyzer.
After training Kerry for more than five years, Nonna takes pride in her client’s fabulous figure. The workout uses Pilates movements to tone the lower body and abs, which helps with perfect posture.
“You will stand up so straight and tall, so lean and beautiful. With stronger lower abs, you aren’t compensating with your neck. Whenever you see my celebs on the red carpet—just like Kerry—they walk so gracefully, their shoulders are back… that’s what makes a sexy walk, and that’s what my training does,” said Nonna.
For the upper body, Nonna focuses on deltoids and triceps, followed by a back workout and waistline-whittling oblique exercises. “I like women to look like natural women; they look sexy and slim but not necessarily like they pump iron at the gym. They are hard working yet elegant figures. That’s what Kerry is to me—hard working yet elegant, gentle and feminine yet so very strong. A total woman!”
