The Camping World Truck Series schedule is winding down, with just three races remaining in the 2014 season. For Kyle Busch Motorsports, it’s been a successful year for all three of its drivers – owner/driver Kyle Busch, full-time driver Darrell Wallace Jr. and part-timer Erik Jones. This Friday at Texas Motor Speedway, Busch and Wallace Jr. get behind the wheels of their respective Toyota Tundras for the WinStar World Casino and Resort 350.
Busch, in the No. 51 ToyotaCare Toyota Tundra, has six wins in eight starts this season in the Truck Series, and has two wins at Texas (November 2009 and November 2010).
Along with Wallace Jr. and Jones, the trio has combined for 11 wins in 2014 – one more win this season will tie the KBM team with the Ultra Motorsports team of 2001: Ted Musgrave earned seven wins, while Scott Riggs earned five.
Busch and the other Toyota drivers in the field can also help the manufacturer earn its seventh manufacturer’s championship with just one finish of seventh or better.
“It has obviously been a great year for Toyota in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series – not only does the new 2014 Tundra look great on the track, it’s proven to be really fast and has won a lot of races this season,” said Busch on the KBM website. “All of the success is a testament to the hard work that everyone at Toyota and Toyota Racing Development have put into the new truck model since the changes were announced last season and the continued support they have provided throughout the 2014 season. I’m proud of the fact that KBM was involved in the development of this new truck and also proud of the fact that we’ve been able to win 11 races out of our shop this year.”
Wallace Jr. is the most recent winner on the Truck Series circuit, picking up the win at Martinsville last weekend in his Wendell Scott Tribute Tundra. This week, he’s back in the No. 54 ToyotaCare Tundra at Texas, making his fourth start at the 1.5-mile track. Wallace Jr., currently third in Truck Series points, has three top 10 finishes in his previous three starts at TMS.
“I’m really pumped and excited to get to Texas this weekend and know it will be another good race for our No. 54 ToyotaCare Toyota Tundra team,” said Wallace Jr. “We have the momentum on our side from the win at Martinsville and our mile-and-a-half program has really improved this season…We’ve finished in the top 10 for every race at Texas, and I think we have what it takes to make that a top five this weekend and even contend for the win.”
Qualifying for the WinStar World Casino and Resort 350 takes place Friday at 2:15 p.m. CT, followed by the green flag at 7:30 p.m. PT. Keep up with the action at www.kylebuschmotorsports.com.
