Labor Day weekend comes and goes every year giving families an extended weekend to enjoy time together and get out of the house for picnics and other activities. Tom Joyner Family Reunion
Every year over Labor Day weekend, Tom Joyner, radio host, has held a family convention that is full of entertainment and activities in the Orlando area. The event is called the Tom Joyner Family Reunion is held at different hotels and resorts in the Orlando area.
In the past it has been held at the Walt Disney World Resorts and Gaylord Palms. Packages are available for the entire event and include accommodations, some meals, theme park tickets, day filled with family activities, concerts, Kid’s Nite Out, autograph sessions and transportation.

Take the family for a day out in the park at Lake Eola, where there is plenty to do outdoors and lots of space to play. Bring the Frisbee or football and play in the open fields before eating a picnic lunch or take a walk afterwards around the lake which is just under one mile long.
Every Sunday, including Labor Day weekend, the Orlando Farmer’s Market is the place where you can pick up fresh fruit, vegetables and handcrafted items. If desired, for a small fee you can take a swan boat ride around the lake.

Orlando Science Center
Take the family on an adventure that is not only fun, but educational too. The Orlando Science Center offers families a place to visit with hands-on exhibits and displays. There are hundreds of exhibits, including labs, shows, displays and films. The Orlando Science Center is a great place to go this Labor Day weekend, especially if it is raining.
Hours of operation are Sundays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Cost of admission is $19 for adults, $13 for kids ages 3 to 11, $17 for students with ID and seniors and kids under the age of 3 are free.

Dinosaur World offers the perfect opportunity to get out and have a prehistoric adventure among the park’s life size dinosaur replicas. Families can enjoy exploring the fossil dig site, bone yard, museum, caves, skeleton garden and playground.
Dinosaur World is open daily from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. The cost of admission is $17.07 for adults, $11.72 for kids ages 3 to 12 and $10.75 for seniors.

Get the theme park experience this Labor Day weekend without the cost of theme park admission by visiting Downtown Disney. Stroll through the shops, grab some ice cream and enjoy the different activities available throughout the area. When night falls take a boat ride on one of the Disney transportation boats from Downtown Disney to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort and back again. The lights along the lake at night are a sight to be seen.
