Last season was a roller coaster season for the cast. We said good bye to some faces that we love as both Munch and Kragan have retired from the show. Munch still comes back for guest appearances but for most part they are gone. Amaro found himself in trouble with the law as he gets arrested for assaulting a perp and he was on thin ice with IAB as he killed an innocent person. Rollins fell down the rabbit hole with her gambling addiction and it almost leads to her losing her job. Thankfully there was another cop undercover that could save her. And the best thing to come out of the show is Benson getting the one that thing that she’s been striving for quite a long time. She gets a child.
In the season opener, Benson’s happy ending is in jeopardy as the people who killed Noah’s mother are looking to finish off Noah (and maybe Benson as well?)
We start off the show with Benson taking care of Noah four months after the season finale. She is telling Noah about his mother, Ellie, and how she died and got custody of Noah.. We saw all of this in the season finale. Easily one of the cutest babies ever.
Amaro is back to traffic as he’s training a new cop the ropes. They pull a car over and arrest a guy getting serviced from an under aged girl, named Luna. Her presumably pimp (a woman) drives by.
Finn and Rollins come and take Luna to Benson because she apparently lived with Ellie when she was working as a call girl. Ice T shows his bad ass self as he takes down a man (named Diego) trying to kill Luna. Someone obviously doesn’t want her getting to Benson.
We have a new detective as Dominic Carisi (Peter Scanavino, Deception) shows up, who has a whole laundry list of previous precincts joins the squad. He’s rocking the old school mustache as he tries to work the case.
Carisi and Benson work Luna and find that she is not willing to talk. Benson thinks about sending someone undercover to try and get information on the house. And who does Benson call? Amaro. He has a problem with the NYPD so no one would think that he’s working with them. He tries to get on the good side for Joaquin so they can get information on what happened to Ellie. To get on his good side, they raid the house and let Joaquin go.
Since Benson gets nothing out of the raid, she goes to see Little Tino in jail. Tino of course wants a deal. Benson questions him about Ellie and Tino uses this time to threaten Noah and he tells her to leave Ellie’s death alone.
The raid works for Amaro as Joaquin gives him money for his influence. He tells him that Benson is going to talk to Tino and that the first person who talks gets the deal.
Looks like someone beat Joaquin to the punch as they start cleaning house. Tino, the girl (Missy) who talked to the police and her new john, and Diego are all killed. And Noah’s next. Luckily, he survives.
Benson tells Finn and Rollins to arrest Amaro and Joaquin so they can try and get information on the hits and Ellie.
When Finn/Benson go to talk to Tino, they run into her mother. She gives them a hint on how to get to the girls’ pimp, Selena. Set up a meet and greet. Silici gets his feet with the squad as he works his first undercover stink with them.
Questioning doesn’t go well against Selena as a lawyer comes and tells her to keep quiet.
They work backwards and come to an interesting conclusion as a man, named Angel, that was vandalized for talking turns out to be the one that is trafficking girls.
Benson/Rollins go to Selena and tell her that she can see her son again if she talks. Tino signs a deal with the police as well but Joaquin is SOL.
When they go to arrest Angel, he threatens Noah and it leads to Finn shooting him. Safe to say that it’s not going to be the end of this. Benson will have to be looking over her shoulder from now on to keep Noah safe.
In next week’s show, a celebrity basketball player is accused of rape and things get complicated as the owner tries to cover it up.
