On August 30, 2014 at UFC 177, Lorenz Larkin, who trains at Millennia MMA in Rancho Cucamonga, fought Derek Brunson in a three-round fight. At the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Larkin fought Brunson to a decision.
In the first round, Brunson stalked Larkin around the cage, and the two fighters traded some strikes. Brunson eventually caught Larkin in a guillotine choke with Larkin’s back against the fence. Larkin slid down to the ground to relieve the pressure of the choke. Brunson used ground and pound to damage his opponent from the top position until the end of the round.
In the second round, Brunson forced Larkin to the ground a couple times, but again, he was unable to finish the fight.
Brunson managed to take Larkin to the ground in the third and final frame. Larkin survived Brunson’s ground and pound, but lost a unanimous decision.
Larkin has lost his last three fights. Brunson, on the other hand, is back in the win column after losing his last fight to UFC fighter Yoel Romero.
