Megan Fox credited a very low carb, low-sugar, Paleo-style diet for her rapid post-baby weight loss just five months after giving birth to her second son.
“I’ve had to eliminate bread from my diet, so I’m on that high-protein, very low-carbohydrate, very low-sugar diet,” Fox told E! “It’s kind of awful.”
Judging by her slender frame, it’s hard to believe the brunette beauty just gave birth in February. But given Megan’s track record, her speedy weight loss isn’t surprising.
In 2012, Fox regained her pre-baby body just two months after giving birth to her first son, Noah. Megan gained just 23 pounds during her first pregnancy and shed the weight quickly by following the low-carb, dairy-free Paleo diet.
The Paleo diet emphasizes high-quality animal proteins such as grass-fed beef and bison, healthy fats like coconut oil, vegetables, and excludes gluten, sugar, dairy, legumes, starches, alcohol and processed foods.
Celebs Embrace Paleo for Low Carb Weight Loss
The Paleo diet is the most popular diet around today, and has a huge celebrity following, including Tim McGraw (who credits it for his jaw-dropping 40-pound weight loss), Joe Manganiello, Kellan Lutz, and Victoria’s Secret supermodel Adriana Lima.
Research suggests the low-carb Paleo diet promotes weight loss and prevents cancer, diabetes, epileptic seizures, and Alzheimer’s. TV star Jack Osbourne and singer Chad Vaccarino both use the Paleo diet to treat their multiple sclerosis.
Fox’s longtime trainer, Harley Pasternak, said Megan’s pregnancy workouts also contributed to her speedy post-baby weight loss. Fox’s workouts combine cardio exercise with strength-training and stretching.
Kristin Cavallari Lost 20 Pounds In 2 Months on Paleo
Megan isn’t the only celebrity who has lost weight quickly with the Paleo diet. TV star Kristin Cavallari credited the low-carb Paleo diet for her 20-pound weight loss just two months after giving birth to her second child.
“We eat a ton of veggies, chicken, grass-fed beef, bison and fish,” said Cavallari. “We also love sweet potatoes and brown rice pasta.”
Kristin said her breakfast is usually a smoothie, oatmeal or eggs, while lunch is a salad or turkey sandwich. Kristin also snacks most afternoons, enjoying nuts with dried cherries, chips with hummus, or an apple with almond butter.
Cavallari also makes sure to eat healthy Paleo-approved fats such as avocados, olive oil and coconut oil. “I also love avocados with olive oil and sea salt and I put coconut oil in or on everything,” she said.
