The Obama White House is battling multiple scandals and international crisis. Although it is now accepted as business as usual from this administration, there appears to be so much of this activity, the media doesn’t “have time” to report it.
Such is the case with the Internal Revenue Service and the ongoing scandal that keeps on giving. Judicial Watch reported Friday they have obtained donor lists from nonprofit political groups for a “secret research project” conducted by the agency’s former head, Lois Lerner, and other officials involved in the targeting scandal.
Aside from Judicial Watch’s announcement, very little has been written in the mainstream media. Is that because there is so much to handle, or most outlets are either too biased or apathetic to care anymore? The documents reveal that 75 percent of the groups from which the lists were solicited were conservative (no surprise there), while just 5 percent were liberal. Getting mad?
This is a major violation of individual American’s privacy, not to mention their right to organize and exist as law-abiding organizations. But all one hears from the Fourth Estate is the sound of crickets and rolling sagebrush. Not even a mention that Judicial Watch obtained the emails and documents as part of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.
Not unlike the incomplete investigations of “Fast and Furious,” the illegal gunrunning by the Department of Justice, the Benghazi tragedy of two-years-ago (House hearings finally beginning Sept. 14th) and other scandals such as Solyndra that have all met a wall of silence, the IRS scandal remains page 18 news in the New York Times.
Why is that? This is not a partisan situation in any way, shape or form. This involves every American in this country and their freedom under the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. It’s not “newsworthy,” or it is not politically correct for the liberal media menu and their ongoing love affair with Barack Obama?
There is a growing tide of anger building in this country after nearly six years of the Obama administration. The tactic of “duck and hide,” or the feigning of ignorance from the Oval Office is crumbling, even among the most ardent ideologues in the media. The days of blaming the last president who left office in 2009 is over.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton released a statement Friday that should anger all Americans. In it, he said, “Again, Judicial Watch has uncovered more shocking emails from the IRS, forced out by a lawsuit and a federal court. Now we learn the stunning news that Obama’s IRS had a ‘secret research program’ using illicitly-obtained confidential donor lists of conservative and Tea Party organizations that opposed President Obama’s agenda or reelection.”
Is the blood pressure rising as this group of government parasites tromp all over the rights of American citizens? Whether you are a Democrat, Republican or newly arrived from Mars, this is unacceptable behavior from our government that we pay for.
The mainstream media had no problem investigating Richard Nixon right out of the Oval Office. His sins were nothing compared to what we have seen from this administration the past six years. Not even close.
If you are still not mad, try this: Significant parts of the emails obtained by Judicial Watch were blacked out or redacted. Remember, these people are public employees who are paid by the American taxpayer. Some emails were completely blacked out. Why would that be?
Still not mad? The “group” said that the Obama administration’s decision to withhold the information is completely discretionary and not required by law. The IRS previously told the American people a “computer crash” wiped out Lois Lerner’s emails. A 12-year-old looks more credible claiming the dog ate their homework. Yet this is still not sufficient for the nation’s media to stand on their journalistic toes and holler at the moon. What more do they need for evidence?
Would this be enough of an explanation if it was Richard Nixon or George W. Bush in the White House? Think about it and then get mad.
