Maksim Chmerkovskiy and his brother, Valentin, were guests on “The View” on Tuesday. Since Shepherd is leaving in a few days, she is having guests on the show that she has a relationship with. Since Val was her partner on “Dancing with the Stars,” she has a relationship with both brothers.
The New York Daily News on Tuesday reports that Maks said, “I’m done dancing. I feel like it’s time.” He left the show and returned after two seasons. When he returned he said things had changed. He saw the younger professionals doing such great things so much so that Maks said he didn’t want to take up a spot that someone else could have. The 34-year-old dancer has been on the popular dancing reality show for fourteen of the eighteen seasons, and he never won the mirror ball trophy until last season when he partnered with Olympic ice skater champion Meryl Davis.
Maks and Meryl were the winners of Season 18. At least Maks is going out a winner, and it appears that it was just what he wanted. He got the trophy, and he wanted Meryl to be the last person he danced with. In the past, he had amazing partners like Kirstie Alley, Hope Solo and Erin Andrews who is now a co-host on “Dancing with the Stars.”
MSN reports that co-host Sherri Shepherd tried her best to get Maks to discuss his relationship with Jennifer Lopez, but he didn’t acknowledge any of her questions.
Even though Maks was emphatic about not dancing on “Dancing with the Star” as a partner to a celebrity, he will not give up dancing completely. In fact, at the end of Tuesday’s show, moderator-for-a-day Jenny McCarthy explained that although Maks is not going to come back as a professional dancer, he may return in some capacity during the show’s history. Maks could come back as a guest judge or to dance in special events. We don’t think we have seen the last of Maks.
