Fans of the long running Canadian T.V. series and related films, the Trailer Park Boys, will have reason to drink up and smoke out when they hear that it’s now available on DVD and Blu-Ray.
“Trailer Park Boys: Don’t Legalize It“, filmed in that familiar mockumentary style, was directed by long-time helmer Mike Clattenburg and is the third film in their dopey franchise. In this their latest, Ricky (Robb Wells), Julian (John Paul Tremblay) and Bubbles (Mike Smith) attempt a series of get-rich-quick schemes, this time outside the friendly confines of Sunnyvale Trailer Park. Hitting the road with each other, trying to go legit but, again they are pursued by drunk ex-park supervisor Jim Lahey (John Dunsworth) and his flabby assistant Randy.
Ricky’s got a great dope operation in the basement of a house, Julian’s working on a plan to deliver clean urine to some buyers in Montreal and Bubbles receives word that his parents have left him their country estate. When word arrives that the Canadian government is about to legalize Marijuana the Boys soon realize that they’ll never have go to jail again for possession or distribution. However if it does become legal, Ricky and Julian will be out of jobs for good.
The story is spread out further afield when Ricky decides to plead his case about reform to Parliament in Ottawa over the impending bill. Driving his beat-up New Yorker witha busted transmission backwards the whole way, his co-horts tag along to figure out their own schemes.
Props to Clattenberg and crew for this change of pace. One that gets them out of the park however still, keeping the laughs fresh and fruitful. Road picture or not, the boys still hit their stride with this their latest picture, “Trailer Park Boys: Don’t Legalize It“.
