Nikki Leonard is a woman of many things. She is a crossfit competitor, a fitness model, and a Shredz sponsored athlete. She is also a social media sensation who has inspired and helped women achieve their goals. Recently, I had the opportunity to speak to Nikki about fitness, crossfit, and SHREDZ. Here is what she had to tell me…
(Q) Hello Nikki. How are you? What inspired you to get involved with crossfit?
After college I wanted to feel the thrill of competition again. CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program with the aim of improving, among other things, cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy. This fits my competitive personality perfectly.
(Q) Let’s talk about your affiliation with SHREDZ. How did you become a SHREDZ athlete?
SHREDZ approached me following a couple of wins I had when competing in the bikini division for the NPC. I sat down with Arvin Lal and we had a conversation about a vision he had for the greatest supplement company in the industry. I believed in his vision and he saw potential and growth in me as an athlete.
(Q) Along with diet and exercise, what products do you use from the SHREDZ line?
I take the Alpha Female Stack and the Alpha Female Recovery Stack. With the combination of those two stacks, you really don’t need much else to help you achieve your fitness goals.
(Q) Which SHREDZ product is your favorite right now?
Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein because its delicious!
(Q) How can adding these products into a healthy diet along with fitness/workout plan benefit someone?
SHREDZ supplements can be used to improve physical performance during exercise, build muscle, change body composition and delay fatigue. It helps give your muscles that extra boost when you need it most so it can help you get the most out of every workout.
(Q) As an athlete, you are always active and as a result, you are always in the gym. What are some of your favorite workouts right now?
As an athlete, I’m always active. It does not necessarily have to always be in the gym. I like being outdoors a lot so I will hike when I can. I like to run or ride a bike. I also enjoy swimming and kayaking. It is true most of my time is spent at Crossfit OKC. With that said every day is a different workout or WOD (workout of the day) which is challenging and a lot of fun.
(Q) When it comes to diet, what do you do to stay in such great shape?
Watch what I eat. I also track my macros to an extent. I know the average amount of kcal’s I need to sustain a healthy diet for myself throughout my training. I for the most part eat clean and healthy, but I definitely leave room for a cheat meal or two. I love food too much to not eat sweets and treats :)
(Q) I believe that skin care also plays a role in looking and feeling amazing, as well. What are some of your favorite beauty products?
I always switch up my face washes, however I am always coming back to Neutrogena. Right now I really love Neutrogena Naturals Face cleansing + makeup remover.
(Q) For someone just starting out at the gym, what advice do you have for him or her?
Do some research on different workout and activities you might be interested in. Try those activities that you think you will like and even try the ones that you think you won’t. You could be surprised by how much one activity could change your life. If you’re into lifting weights, have someone like a personal trainer show you how to safely and efficiently operate machinery or free weights. Injuries suck and ain’t no body got time for that!
(Q) Who is your celeb crush?
Woman or Male ;) WCW varies, but right now I would have to say Christmas Abbott. She is strong and beautiful and she in some respects reminds me of myself. My male celeb crush is Mark Wahlberg because hellooooo Mark Wahlberg.
(Q) You are so inspiring to many women around the world, including myself. When someone says “Nikki, you have inspired me to change my life!” How does this kind of feedback make you feel?
Absolutely amazing! I know what its like to be inspired by others. For example; I met Stacie Tovar not too long ago and I literally was sweating because I was so nervous to meet her. I look up to her a lot. It’s refreshing to know that there is someone out there for everyone to inspire and be inspired. We are all human and I am truly humbled by everyone who has supported my journey and has had wonderful things to say about me and to me.
(Q) For all of those fitness, health, and beauty enthusiasts reading this interview, what would you like them to know? What is next for Nikki Leonard?
I’m just going to train like a beast for life! Whatever happens, happens. My goal is to make it to Crossfit regionals 2016, in hopes of making it to the CrossFit Games. Keep your eyes out for me, I’m on a mission!
Keep up with Nikki Leonard’s journey here:
