One of Chicago’s brightest rising stars, singer/songwriter/guitarist MER, brings his popular original power pop/rock music to the Block Thirty Seven Pedway Summer Performance Series on Monday, July 28th, 2014, at 4:30pm, at Stage 37 (located on the The Pedway between the CTA Redline and Blue Line on Level B1), 108 North State Street, Chicago, Illinois 60602.
MER has tirelessly supported local musicians through his music showcases at various venues around Chicago, including Schubas Tavern and Cubby Bear Wrigleyville, while continuing to pursue his own exciting, ever-growing musical career. Recent full band performances include House of Blues Chicago, Taste of River North, Taste of Randolph Street, and WGN Midday News. “People are asking when the band is going to come out,” says MER. “People receive the energy and are excited about the singles. I believe in the live connection and that’s why I love music. And, that’s something that I really believe in; the connection to people through music.”
Passion, discipline, energy, and focused talent are what one experiences with the music of MER. A seasoned veteran of the music industry, MER has toured the nation playing over 2,000 live shows supporting acts such as Ziggy Marley, Violent Femmes, Gin Blossoms, Better Than Ezra, Rusted Root, The Verve Pipe, Cowboy Mouth, Fastball, Kill Hannah, The Pat McGee Band, amongst others. A melodic, pop overtone streamlines MER’s original music ranging from the intimate, acoustic ballads to the powerful, rock anthems. MER’s recent collaboration with Chicago producer, Sean O’Keefe (Fallout Boy, Plain White T’s, Less Than Jake) turned out two new singles, “Bulletproof” and “Heart Attack” officially released in September of 2013. MER continues to record with plans to release a five song EP in the fall of 2014. (from MER biography)

Chicago’s live entertainment doesn’t start or stop with Lollapalooza. Enjoy free performances all summer long at Block Thirty Seven. Taking its name from one of the original 58 city blocks established in 1830, Block Thirty Seven was there at Chicago’s birth. For nearly a century, Block Thirty Seven was at the forefront of every major historic market trend. Following the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, the city’s early office buildings, the first skyscrapers of the 1890s, and the supermarkets of the 1930s were all built on this site. It served as an important social space for the neighborhood, one that epitomized the forward-looking growth of the city.
Today, Block Thirty Seven continues in this tradition. Bringing together the perfect mix of shopping, dining, and entertainment, it offers locals a stylish retreat in the heart of downtown Chicago. Block Thirty Seven is a modern shopping, dining, and entertainment destination in the heart of the Loop. Bordered by State, Randolph, Dearborn, and Washington streets, it encompasses an entire city block in Chicago’s downtown neighborhood. Block Thirty Seven features contemporary fashion and beauty brands, boutique cafes and eateries, and essential conveniences within a five-story atrium.
The center has direct access to Chicago’s Pedway as well as the CTA Red Line and Blue Line. And, this is where you’ll find Stage 37 on the The Pedway between the CTA Redline and Blue Line on Level B1. Celebrate summer in The Loop at Stage 37. (from Block Thirty Seven website)
