Several more updates have been posted in regards to “Minecraft Xbox One Edition” and “Minecraft PS4 Edition.” According to a report from Attack of the Fan Boy on Aug. 29, the development team at 4J Studios revealed that the code has finally been handed over to Microsoft Studios for certification testing. As a result, the release date of the Xbox One version could be announced soon.
However, there is a possibility in which “Minecraft Xbox One Edition” won’t pass the initial test. For example, “Minecraft PS4 Edition” failed the certification procedure recently when the code was sent to Sony Computer Entertainment. The game was returned to 4J Studios in order to fix the remaining critical issues before undergoing the same process over again.
Daniel Kaplan, a business developer at Mojang, also explained to Total Xbox recently about why the open-world sandbox title was being ported to the two next-generation systems. He stated that the PS4 and Xbox One have a massive audience, a majority of which do not play games on computers. He went on to hint that the company may be done with the ports unless there is a platform with a big user base.
His statement may put a damper on the hopes of 3DS and Wii U owners that want to play “Minecraft” on Nintendo platforms. Although Nintendo has expressed some interests in the ports recently, nothing has been announced so far. It appears that 4J Studios may be focusing on releasing “Minecraft Vita Edition,” which is currently in the debugging stage, for the near future.
The development team could also be very busy full even with the three upcoming ports finally launching. “Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition” have been getting new DLC packs on a regular basis while “Minecraft PS3 Edition” will be receiving a patch at some point so that more expansions could be added. The two current-generation console versions will also be updated so that the world save transfer feature could be added.
Mojang originally planned to release “Minecraft PS4 Edition,” “Minecraft Xbox One Edition” and “Minecraft Vita Edition” by the end of Aug. However, 4J Studios had some trouble fixing the glitches from the three ports. As a result, the three new ports are now expected to come out sometime in Sept.
