The most powerful actress for 2014 is Jennifer Lawrence. Forbes just gave the award to Jennifer Lawrence after another really successful year for the actress. According to a report from Forbes on Monday (June 30), the young actress takes over the top spot for the first time in her career. Last year, it had been Angelina Jolie at the top in combination for what she was able to accomplish on and off the screen. Now Hollywood seems to belong to the 23-year-old Lawrence for the time being.
Some of the reasons listed for her power grab include being nominated for a third Academy Award, finding more success as Katniss Everdeen in “The Hunger Games,” and taking a second turn as the character Mystique in “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” Forbes estimated that she earned $34 million just between June 2013 and June 2014 to take over the list for females.
When it comes to all celebrities, Lawrence is now ranked No. 12. It’s possible that she could go even higher with some notable films coming out in the next year. At the top of the list for all celebrities is Beyonce Knowles, who turned in a huge haul over the past year.
No. 2 on the list of most powerful actresses in 2014 is Sandra Bullock. She found a lot of success over the past year with the comedy “The Heat” as well as the science fiction film “Gravity.” When it comes to money, Bullock brought home an estimated $51 million over the past year, with a lot of that money coming from percentages she agreed to accept on “Gravity.” She has several pictures upcoming that should also continue to keep her on this list.
Rounding out the top five actresses are Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, and Jennifer Aniston. The films “Maleficent,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” and “We’re The Millers” helped the three actresses stay high on the list. Aniston was estimated to have earned $31 million thanks to the immense success of her comedy after it was working on just a $37 million budget to be created. It ended up grossing $270 million and became one of the most successful films of the year.
