After their last heist, and with their pockets full of money, Dom and his crew have scattered. But Federal Agent Hobbs tracks down Dom for help with an international organization of skilled drivers, asking him to reassemble his team. As incentive, Hobbs reveals Letty is alive and entrenched in the organization and offers the entire team full pardons.
Vin Diesel (Dom), Paul Walker (Brian), Dwayne Johnson (Hobbs), Jordana Brewster (Mia), Michelle Rodriguez (Letty), Tyrese Gibson (Roman), Sung Kang (Han), Gal Gadot (Gisele), Ludacris (Tej), Luke Evans (Shaw).
Fast & Furious 6 begins with scenes from past sequels in an apparent attempt at linking this episode with Tokyo Drift. From there the film quickly throws out a plot and things begin moving. Sadly the franchise continues to drift away from the details and focus on cars, spending more time on drama and relationships. There is still some good action although to enjoy it means forgetting about the laws of physics, the length of airplane runways, and forgiving plot weakness to bring back important cast members. Still, the film is enjoyable with some good action and a lot of fun.
Acting was consistent with the series all around. Diesel, Walker, Johnson, and Brewster delivered as usual. Rodriguez was challenged this time around and did pretty well. Gibson, Kang, Ludacris also did nicely. Gadot was enjoyable and hopefully will return, somehow, and Evans made a good protagonist.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were nicely done and consistent with the franchise. CGI was a bit over the top this time in more than a few scenes, requiring the suspension of reality. Stunt work was good as always, as was sound and soundtrack. Dialogue was solid with good depth.
Overall Fast & Furious 6 is a reasonable addition to the franchise that many fans will enjoy. Those who watch for the cars and racing may be a bit disappointed with this one. And of course the big question; what will happen to the series with the passing of Paul Walker?
With plenty of action and violence, some foul language, and mild sexuality this should be fine for teens and above.
