The Smith family has a troubled past they are trying to reconcile along with some dark secrets and some disturbing problems. When a stranger whose car has broken down is allowed to stay the night he realizes there is something not quite right about the family. But is the stranger as normal as he appears?
Alexandra Chando (Gloria), Patrick Breen (Nick), Charlie Hewson (Quentin), Nina Lisandrello (Lynne), Richard Bekins (Matt), Betsy Aidem (Marilyn), Court Young (Officer Schmidt), Henderson Wade (Officer Bayne).
The Bleeding House starts off slow, and remains that way throughout the film, which is really my only complaint. There isn’t much plot setup and with the twists in this one, you don’t want or need it anyway. Character introductions are brief but development continues through the entire film. The plot is good and unusually broad for a horror film. But it all works resulting in a solid storyline that is quite entertaining. Sadly the film will lose some due to the glacier-like pace.
Acting was okay with Chando presenting a dark character quite well. Breen was charming and creepy at the same time and did both very nicely. Bekins, Aidem, Lisandrello and the rest of the supporting cast were okay but not really exciting or polished.
Camera work was reasonable though some dark scenes were tough. Editing was absolutely horrible with more than a couple of bad splices and obviously big cuts. Sets and backgrounds had a solid, realistic feel. Physical effects seemed okay but were also where the worst splicing was found. Dialogue was enjoyable, particularly from Breen. Sound and soundtrack were decent.
When the blood finally dries, The Bleeding House is revealed to be decent mid-level horror flick with a solid psychological thriller plot. Those who enjoy either genre may enjoy this one while those who want action or a fast plot will be disappointed.
With plenty of graphic violence, blood, gore, disturbing images and psychology, save this one for the oldest teens and above.
