Originally from Cornwall, a city in Eastern Ontario, Canada, Helena-Alexis Seymour is an actress whose craft knows no bounds.
Since beginning her career with the film A Diva’s Christmas Carol, where she acted alongside multi-award winning actress Vanessa Williams, this young talent has proven she is a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry as she has continued to land coveted roles in a series of hugely successful productions.
Ever since she was a child Helena-Alexis Seymour has loved to perform. “It was my passion before I even understood why, it just felt right,” explained Helena-Alexis Seymour. “It’s where I came alive and it’s where I felt the closest to God… I was born to be an actress and looking back on my path, I was preparing myself the entire time.”
Ms. Seymour plays the role of a TV reporter in the American dramedy film Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance, which was directed and co-written by two-time Oscar nominee Alejandro González Iñárritu. Iñárritu, whose previous films include Babel, 21 Grams, Biutiful, Amores Perros and many others, has received countless awards for his work including four awards from the internationally renowned Cannes Film Festival, two awards from the Tokyo International Film Festival, as well as an Independent Spirit Award.
The film Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), which is scheduled to hit theaters October 11, follows a superhero, played by Michael Keaton, as he prepares for an upcoming performance in a Broadway play. Helena-Alexis Seymour acts alongside an A-list cast in the film, which includes Zach Galifianakis, Emma Stone, Edward Norton, and Naomi Watts.
Ms. Seymour also plays the role of Jessica Hall in the upcoming film Corrupt, which is scheduled for release in early 2015. Directed by Curtis Crawford who’s known for the films Dead on Campus, The Perfect Roommate, A Sister’s Revenge, The Boy She Met Online, and Cyberstalker, Corrupt is a murder mystery that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Seymour’s character in the film is a beautiful yet bookwormish DA’s assistant whose obsession with evidence and logistics makes her a key counterpart in uncovering the clues that help the film’s hero, Kate MacIntyre, played by Nicole De Boer, solve the case.
Seymour has also played starring roles in the award-winning television shows The Line, and Being Human, as well as the films Rulers of Darkness, Donkey, The Husband She Met Online, and others.
“I hope to become an Academy Award winning actress, a bond girl, and catwoman. Hollywood needs a new, fresh, young black tough chick,” said Seymour.
With an astonishing repertoire of work already under her belt, it looks like Helena-Alexis Seymour’s hopes for the future are well on their way to becoming a reality.
