As we get older, words start to have new meanings.
A few years ago new phrases came out to the beauty market such as: “Women over 40,” “Over 40 & Fabulous,” “Fab over 40,” among others. After our first lady turned fifty this year, the beauty market started gathering towards another age: FIFTY. “Fifty and fabulous” kicked the “Over 40 & Fabulous” campaign’s butt just like that, ever since ABC posted its interview with Mrs. Obama reveling her anti-aging secrets.
Who remember the Golden age?
According to Wikipedia, the term Golden Age (Greek: Χρυσόν Γένος Chryson Genos) comes from Greek mythology and refers to the first in a sequence of four or five ages of Man, in which the Golden Age is first followed in sequence by the Silver, Bronze, Heroic, and then the present (Iron), which is a period of decline.
But is FIFTY the real start of decline period in these times?
I still remember the sitcom with Betty White, “Golden Girls” about three woman in their 50’s with an old lady sharing their lives based in their friendship, they had fun, they loved, and they lived!
Let’s compare with our modern group, “Hot in Cleveland” and it’s almost the same pattern, three women in there 50’s with an old lady (Betty White is back and funnier than ever).
The difference between one sitcom and the other is the way they look. Our modern “women over 50” look younger, even their style and fashion clothing has changed, making them look better, more alive!
The message in both sitcoms remains the same, they age with grace, they have fun, and they live!
Women and the meaning of life…
Golden age is not the same anymore. The meaning of life doesn’t have to change because women age. Age is a privilege that we should embrace. It brings us wisdom, experience, knowledge and if you take care of yourself, exercise, and eat healthy, you can have it all for so many years to come!
I like to believe women of these days found the way to upgrade themselves to look better and live their lives with more passion, I believe we found the way to live more.
I speak for myself, I am 47 years old (I never felt better) and my fiancé is in his 50’s, and what a fifty! We feel young, so in love and we enjoy the privilege of aging together. After 7 years of living together, we are planning our wedding with all our love and dedication like it was our first time! For us everything is possible!
Talking about gold, I would like to recommend this gorgeous gold dress design by CARMEN MARC VALVO (Marc Valvo is a designer who specializes in high-end cocktail dresses)– I recently wore this dress for Cavali’s Golden Days of Summer Party and I got a lot of complements.
Remember life is great! And to all my single golden girls, it’s never too late to live happily ever after!
