Have you heard the big holiday news? If you need a little something to whet your whistle during the dog days of summer, you’re in luck. According to a Las Vegas Sun report published on July 26, a refreshing holiday is right around the corner and Americans are in the mood to celebrate! Smack dab on the heels of National Tequila Day, it’s time to celebrate another favorite spirit. July 27, 2014, is National Scotch Day, an annual beverage holiday that celebrates a popular beverage enjoyed around the world – Scotch whiskey.
Whether you spell it “whiskey” or “whisky,” scotch has been consumed for centuries and was once known for its healing properties. While whisky (or whiskey) can be made anywhere in the world, it must be produced and aged in Scotland for at least three years in order for it to be labeled Scotch.
While the origins of this holiday are unknown, one thing is for certain. Folks all over America will be raising a glass in honor of the annual occasion! Some establishments across the nation will be servin’ up special Scotch deals to celebrate.
