It’s National Tequila Day and what better way to celebrate it than with some Don Julio tequila. Don Julio 70 Crystal Añejo is one of the absolute best tequilas around today, but what you may not know about it is how versatile it is. Sure it’s easy to imagine a Ferrari as a car that just goes fast, but there’s a lot more to it than meets the eye, right? The same can be said for Don Julio 70 Crystal Añejo.
Today, it’s a pleasure to share three new recipes that you and your friends can enjoy, outside of Don Julio 70 Crystal Añejo straight. The cocktails we are going to discuss are the 212, Speakeasy Paloma and 70 Old Fashioned. Get your taste buds ready because here comes the yum.
To create your own 212, you will obviously need some Don Julio 70 Crystal Añejo, along with Italian Aperitif, Fresh Grapefruit Juice and make sure you hang onto the Grapefruit Peel itself. Once you have a shaker and some ice inside of it, combine one and one third ounces of Don Julio 70 Crystal Añejo, two thirds of an ounce of Italian Aperitif and one and one third ounces of Grapefruit Juice.
When you’ve combined all of the ingredients together, make sure you do a thorough job of shaking in order to ensure proper balance. Then take a rocks glass, add in ice and then strain the contents from the shaker into the glass. Feel free to garnish the drink with your leftover Grapefruit Peel.
Next, we take a look at the Speakeasy Paloma. This is yet another refreshing drink to enjoy, especially during National Tequila Day. The Speakeasy will require you to have Don Julio 70 Crystal Añejo, Grapefruit Cordial, Lavender Sparkling Water, Fresh Lime Juice, Lavender Sprig and Grapefruit Zest for the ending garnish.
This takes a bit more preparation than the 212 we just talked about. First, add one and one third ounces of Don Julio 70 Crystal Añejo, one fourth of an ounce of Grapefruit Cordial and two thirds of an ounce of Lime Juice all into a shaker. Shake everything up until you feel it is of the right consistency.
After, strain the contents into a highball glass that already contains ice. Then, top the contents off with one full ounce of Lavender Sparkling Water. Finally, garnish the drink with your Lavender Sprig and Grapefruit Zest.
Finally, let’s talk about the 70 Old Fashioned. It’s a bit simpler than the previous drink and equally as delicious. You will need Don Julio 70 Crystal Añejo, Apertif Wine, Light Agave Syrup and Orange Zest to concoct one of these guys.
It takes three simple steps to do this. First, add the one full ounce of Don Julio 70 Crystal Añejo, one teaspoon of Apertif Wine and one teaspoon of Light Agave Syrup all into a shaker. Much like the previous two drinks, shake up the ingredients thoroughly.
When you feel you have the right mix, go ahead and pour all of the contents into an empty rocks glass. There should be no ice in the shaker or the rocks glass for this drink. Once you’ve poured everything into the glass, go ahead and use the Orange Zest as a garnish.
These delicious creations were inspired by both Ben Scorah and Marshall Altier. We’ll surely have more fantastic recipes to share with you in the future, but until then enjoy this terrific trio. Please remember to drink responsibly and enjoy National Tequila Day!
