The new iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 are coming in October and are already in production, according to an August 28 report in Christian Today. While it is important to note that Apple has yet officially to announce a release date for the new iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 3, reports about an October release are based on the pattern of past Apple iPad launches.
In keeping with an October iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 launch is the discounts that are continuing to appear as retailers reduce inventory of current iPads to make way for the new iPad Air and iPad mini models. For example, Amazon is currently offering the flagship iPad Air 16GB Wi-Fi model (regularly $499.00) for just $435.20.
The iPad Air 2 is expected to have twice the RAM of the current iPad Air (or 2GB), with “Touch ID” (like the iPhone 5s), the new A8 processor and iOS 8, all packed in a sleeker and lighter design. Other leaks suggest that the new iPad Air 2 will also have extended battery life.
The A8 processor and iOS 8 are also bound to appear in iPhone 6, the new flagship iPhone that Apple is announcing on Sep. 9. Besides the iPhone 6, it is reported that Apple is finally revealing its “wearable” (known in the media as “iWatch”) at this same event.
Curiously, Apple moved this iPhone 6 event from the stage that Apple usually uses for such presentations in Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco to the Flint Center near Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino. The Flint Center has 3,000 seats, the Yerba Buena Center just 700. The additional seating capacity, Apple’s construction of a building nearby under tight security, and the fact that the Flint Center stage is where Steve Jobs unveiled the Mac—all suggest that Apple is preparing something big and exciting on Sep. 9.
