CT artist Manny James is quickly rising up the iTunes R&B/Soul chart with the release of his debut EP ‘Just Being Honest,’ currently holding the #14 spot for New Releases as of Monday July 7, according The Art of the Mix and the Manny James Facebook artist page.
The Patriarch Recordings artist released the 7 track EP on Independence Day 2014 to rave reviews and a whopping 5-star customer rating. What is so enjoyable about this album? According to some of the reviews – it’s Grown and it’s Soulful.
“Great album. Definitely has the old school retro soul, feel good music. Congrats to manny James on this project. #justbeinghonest,” was posted by Mpire Lifestyle via the iTunes comments.
“This album is absolutely grown folks music. The vibe, the old school feel, it reminds me of Motown! I love it, keep doing it big #MannyJames #CTpride for sure!!!!!,” is another comment from a ‘Just Being Honest’ customer.
Manny James has been gearing up for the completion of his debut album since the release of the lead single “Good Company.” The upbeat-tempo tune was released during the beginning of the year; followed by the premier of the highly anticipated video on February 20.
The single has been garnering the attention of R&B lovers worldwide with frequent spins on major radio stations such as New Haven’s 94.3 WYBC, Hartford’s 93.7 WZMX and online station uglyradio.net. In addition to the airwaves, the video for “Good Company” can be viewed on popular sites like VH1.com and MTV.com
‘Just Being Honest’ evokes a string of emotions from track 1 to track 7. “Feel good music” as described by Mpire Lifestyle pretty much sums up the experience of listening to this EP. It takes you on a journey of feeling like you want to dance like the song tells you when you hear “Good Company,” or slowly swaying from side to side, feeling beautifully at peace, while listening to the calypso influenced melody of “She is Loved,” or even feeling like it’s okay to speak your mind, say how you feel, “just being honest and you don’t have to like me for it,” when listening to the lyrics of the title track “Just Being Honest.”
A trip down Motown lane with a sound that’s reminiscent of so many greats. Many listeners have compared James’ sound to that of Sam Cooke, Pharrell and Cee Lo Green.
Manny James will be performing live on July 12 at Darius Murrell’s Day & Night Affair, at the Oakdale Theater, 95 S Turnpike Rd, Wallingford, CT at 4p. “Just Being Honest” is available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon.
