Today in the music world a very big record officially released. Nicki Minaj new single Only features superstar artists Lil’ Wayne, Drake and Chris Brown. Only is off of Nicki Minaj upcoming album PinkPrint releasing November 24th. Another major release is the president and CEO of Young Money Records, the label Nicki Minaj is signed to, Lil’ Wayne. It was just announced that The Carter V is allegedly releasing December 4th.
Only is produced by Dr. Luke, a producer that Nicki Minaj has worked with multiple times in the past. This record is different immediately when you first hear it. Not only is the sound fresh yet simple, but the Nicki Minaj, Lil’ Wayne and Drake and being extremely truthful in their lyrics. All three talk about the topic of having sexual relations with each Nicki Minaj. By the end of the song it is still unclear if this rumored love triangle is about trolling or truth.
Chris Brown delivers a worth-standing hook to Only. Drake seems to have borrowed Big Sean flow style and it works in the hardest way. Lil’ Wayne finalizes this song with another breakthrough verse to add to his infinite collection. The internet thinks that Wayne is unable to make classic albums anymore, almost as if he forgot about his past life. Lil’ Wayne verse on Only puts that theory to bed. The Carter V will be a classic.
This record will do big numbers not because it involves some of hip-hops hottest artists, but because it is a catchy and clever song discussing current events in the hip hop community. Dr. Luke also produced a previous Nicki Minaj hit single called Pills N Potions. It will be interesting to see a visual for Only. Humor is always the best way to go viral for your information.
Chris Brown just released his latest album X last month, which sold about 150,000 copies in its first week. Although Chris Brown has had several altercations with violence in the past, everyone deserves a chance to make everything right. Plus the kid is mad talented with incredible dance moves. But you knew that.
Young Money Records at one time was the leader in record labels. Now a days they may not be the leader, but own the highest grossing artists including Lil’ Wayne, of course the boy Drake and Nicki Minaj. Drake and Lil’ Wayne just finished their first ever competitive tour Drake vs. Lil’ Wayne and if you didn’t get to see it, it was a sight to see. Both rappers battled each other and the crowd was involved by voting on who they thought deserved to win. We will be seeing more of these types of tours in the near future.
Only was officially released today via iTunes so make sure you go and support the Young Money team. Speaking of new releases, Drake announced that he will drop his forthcoming album Views From The 6 this spring through Young Money Records and his own imprint OVO Sound.
